Samsung Vibrant - the Galaxy S series representative on T-Mobile - is going live today, July 15th, and T-Mo already made it available in their online store for $250-$50 rebate.

A few days ago, we also pointed out that the phone is also available from Wirefly for $50 cheaper than T-Mo - $149.99.

Well, it looks like today Amazon.com followed suit and is now offering the Vibrant at the same cool $149.99 delivered for free in 2 days.

The moment you've been waiting for is here - Droid X order page just went live at VZW's site.

You can pick up this bad boy for $199... that is, of course, if you are OK with potentially eating a $350 termination fee and never seeing your device rooted or running a custom ROM.

If, however, you don't care about rooting or custom ROMs, then pop open that browser and spill the cashish, because Motorola's new Droid X is a beast.

SimpleRoot OTA 1.47.651.1 Edition Now Unlocking Root And NAND On Post-OTA EVO 4G Phones
Last Updated: September 28th, 2014

This article mentions rooting and flashing of custom ROMs. If you’re unfamiliar with either term, hit up our primers here and here for additional information

Remember the 3-click SimpleRoot app that brought full root, including permanently unlocking NAND (that's something unrevoked doesn't do), to your EVO 4G? I sure do, as that's exactly how I rooted my EVO. However, If you applied the latest god forsaken EVO OTA, you may have found that that version of SimpleRoot no longer worked.

PSA: HTC Droid Incredible Now In Stock At Amazon.com

If you've been trying to get your hands on the HTC Droid Incredible ever since it launched and you didn't reserve one in a preorder, you may have had some trouble finding one in stock. In fact, even some later preorders have not been filled yet.

The phone is still sold out everywhere, including VZW, with ship dates going as far as August:

The situation with the Droid Incredible, caused by shortages of AMOLED screens, got so bad that Verizon actually allowed customers to switch their preorders to Droid X instead.

One of Swype keyboard's most glaring omissions, especially apparent to those of us with Android 2.1/2.2 is the missing voice input button.

The voice input button, present on the stock keyboard when typing in any text field, lets you utilize Android's speech-to-text capabilities and works surprisingly well. I sure missed it when I installed Swype.

And I'm not alone - over 2000 votes have been cast by Swype users, making it the #1 requested Swype feature - the next one down is only around 600 votes.

A notification about the new version of Yelp just popped up on my EVO, and without thinking much about it, I gave it a whirl. Ohh, version 2.0 - it must be bringing new features, I thought. Indeed, it was. And I'm in love with them.

New In Yelp 2.0

Here's the list of the most interesting stuff:

  • Mobile check-ins
  • "Monocle"
  • Review drafting (though not posting)
  • Adding photos, tips, and bookmarks
  • A brand new look
  • A bunch of force closes, which I hope would be fixed soon.

Tip: How To Get Arrow/Cursor Keys On The Swype Keyboard
Last Updated: July 5th, 2010

Today's tip is almost a necessity because I've seen so many of you looking and asking and complaining about having no cursor keys in Swype (us EVO 4G users absolutely need them - the phone has no trackball!).

So I am here to tell you that Swype actually does have cursor keys but they're hidden away in a secret menu behind a super-secret swipe. Well, not too secret but if you haven't looked through the manual, you are probably unaware of it.
