Earlier this week, we got wind of a new OTA build JOP40G possibly hitting the Nexus 4 soon. I thought this update would finally be the elusive Android 4.2.2 that we've been hearing about, but it looks like that's not the case.

Yesterday, Google pushed some new open source code to AOSP (Android Open Source Project) marked with 2 new tags: android-4.2.1_r1.1 and android-4.2.1_r1.2. The build number corresponding to the 4.2.1_r1.2 release is - you guessed it - JOP40G (with mentions of JOP40F and JOP40E along the way too) - the same one we thought would be 4.2.2.

Australians on the prowl for the Nexus 4, your time has finally come. You were last, after U.S., Canada, Germany, Spain, France, and UK, but who's holding grudges? Just like our tipster indicated, both the 8GB and the 16GB Nexus 4s are on sale on the Play Store as of a few minutes ago. The Bumper, unfortunately, seems to be out, but that's a minor niggle in the grand scheme of things.

If you're waiting your turn for a chance to buy the Nexus 4 off the Google Play Store in the UK, France, Spain, or Australia, then listen up. The elusive Nexus 4 stock should be replenished in the aforementioned countries come January 30th (January 31st for Australia).

According to our tipster who was spot-on this morning about the 9am U.S. launch (Germany and Canada are already live as well), "Temporarily Out Of Stock" will finally switch to "In Stock" at the following times:

There's no word on whether the bumper cases will go on sale, so be sure to check once the Nexus 4 is live.

The Nexus flood gates seem to have opened today, with both Best Buy and Wirefly not only launching their respective Nexus 4 pages, but also actually having devices in stock. And now it looks to me like Google is preparing a fresh batch of the sought-after sold out devices, as all "Sold Out" product pages were switched to say "Temporarily Out of Stock" a few minutes ago.

Call me crazy, but I don't think this is simply a meaningless change in wording.

It's time to call up the DROID RAZR M family and congratulate it on a new, slightly much girlier addition. Minutes ago, Verizon Wireless put up the bright pink Valentine's Day-themed variant of the 4.3" Jelly Bean-sporting device for sale on its website.

Update: Verizon has now updated the page and included a $50-off discount, dropping the price down to $49.99.

Unsurprisingly, the subsidized 2-year contract price remains unchanged from the black and white versions at $99.99, while the month-to-month off-contract option will make your wallet lighter by $549.99.

Yesterday, Facebook rolled out a big update to its Messenger Android app, but as it turns out, it was only a small part of what the social network had in store for us. On the same day, the company also quietly released Facebook Pages Manager to the Play Store - an application iOS users have been enjoying since the first half of last year.

As a Facebook Page manager for Android Police, I immediately wanted to take it out for a spin but was forced to put the plan on hold because the app is actually not available in the U.S.

Look, folks, today is the perfect day to watch a light-hearted video of a real-life fruit ninja chopping fruit, getting smacked in the face with bananas, avoiding bombs like the plague, all topped with adorable kittens flying by in slo-mo. In fact, any day is the perfect day to watch that, especially when it's accompanied by a Dubstep sound track. Still not convinced? Fine, I'll give you two more reasons. It's a Sunday before the laziest and least productive week of the year, and it's Christmas Eve Eve.

Google has started to push out an update to the Play Store for Android with version 3.10.10. The difference in size compared to the previous version 3.10.9 from about a month ago is about 1.5KB, and after ripping through the APK, I found no significant changes. There are some tweaks to the in-app billing, checkout, and authentication code, but from what I can tell, this is a bug fix release.

Amazon's Gold Box deals are some of my favorite discounts to check out every morning. In fact, outside of the Gold Box, the only other deal destinations I regularly visit are Amazon-owned MyHabit and TouchOfModern, a site full of inspiration and ultramodernism.

But back to the deal. If you've been eying Amazon's latest Kindle Fire HD 8.9" tablet (remember all those holidays that are coming at us fast?), today's Gold Box deal of the day should most definitely make it easier to pull the trigger.

Update: It turns out someone jumped the gun on this one, and the game isn't actually available just yet - which is why so many users are getting the "validation error." Rockstar is aware of the issue and posted a statement on their official blog:

We’re aware that some users have attempted to download Vice City: 10th Anniversary Edition from the Google Play Store and have experienced validation errors. Just to be clear: the game is not available for Android devices just yet, and if you’re seeing it listed on the Store then this is an error, and you shouldn’t attempt to download it.
