Samsung's Mysterious TheNextGalaxy.com Launches, Teases The Next Mobile Unpacked, Promises You Will Stand Out From The Sheep Crowd

Yesterday, Samsung started promoting a cryptic site, tgeltaayehxnx.com, which sported nothing but a countdown due to run out about half an hour ago, at 4am Pacific time. The most observant souls quickly figured out that the domain is an anagram for thenextgalaxy.com, a site registered by the same advertising agency (The Upper Storey) and, to our disappointment, password protected.

Come 4am, and password protected it is no more, revealing [if you can get through]... only the next in a series of teasers - a video and a sign-up form. Sorry, folks, I'm not sure what you were expecting (and why I set an alarm for 4am this morning), but that's about it.

Google Maps Street View Support Expands To Israel

The Google Maps team added support for Street View in Israel's major cities this past weekend - Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Haifa. If you haven't had a chance to check out Street View yet, it can take you on a virtual stroll down city streets right inside Google Maps - on the web or on your Android device.

For example, to check out Tel Aviv's views, download Street View on Google Maps, head over to Google Maps and punch in "Tel Aviv, Israel." Then click on the city name, Street View, and voila:

Pan, click, move, show your friends and family - it's especially impressive to those who have never seen Street View in action, which could be the case if, you know, you actually live in Israel.

Your Eyes Aren't Lying - We Moved Our Comments To Disqus. Here's Why (Bonus: Preview Of Next Generation Disqus 2012)

If you haven't noticed yet, AP comments are now powered by Disqus. It took a really long time to squash all integration bugs and accept some downsides of moving to a non-native comment system, but when two complicated systems and over a hundred thousand comments are involved, migration gets a little tricky (to say the least).

After studying the code of the Disqus plugin to the point that I am now familiar with it more intimately than I ever cared to be, over 200 emails with the Disqus team, reporting multiple bugs and submitting code patches, many sleepless nights, ripped our hairs, and cursing, I was finally satisfied enough to pull the trigger last Saturday night.

[For Developers] ADT 20/SDK Tools r20 Previews Are Here - Brand New Property Editor(!), NDK Support, Performance Improvements, Bug Fixes Galore

As an Android developer, I like to keep tabs on the tools I use every day, especially ones as important as ADT for Eclipse and SDK Tools. As was the case several times before, the Android team in charge of both of them posted previews of upcoming releases of ADT 20 and SDK Tools r20, available for manual download ahead of the final releases.

Yup, you heard me correctly - 20, not 18 or 19. Even though the previous major release was 17, 18 followed up shortly after with some minor changes, and 19, even more minor, wasn't even posted to the downloads page (see here for the reason).

[Updated] Video: T-Mobile Launches First Brand Re-Launch Effort With Carly's "Alter Ego" Commercial

After the infamous attempted AT&T acquisition of T-Mobile (also known as the biggest failure in telecom in 2011), the latter has apparently been working on restoring its image in the eyes of consumers with a complete brand re-launch, due this fall. The first step - a new Carly. We know the old Carly in a magenta dress showing off her long legs, but the new Carly is going to turn into this bad-ass Ducati rider. Alter ego and all that jazz. Here, check it out:

I think the new direction is great - Carly in leather biker gear zooming down the streets of Magenta Town has "speed" written all over it (if you can call HSPA+ "speed" nowadays).

[Updated] Alleged App Crash Log Points To A Mysterious 'takju' Variant Of Galaxy Nexus, Confirms Android JellyBean Codename

Update: The takju mystery is solved: it's the U.S. GSM Nexus that Google released this morning. It's pretty clear that this device will be one of the first, if not the very first, to see the Jelly Bean OTA update.

We deal with rumors and potential fakes on a daily basis, and I have to warn you right away - on a scale of unconfirmed to solid, the source of this post is leaning to the left.

Everything you're about to see can be easily spoofed, but the circumstances in which the evidence was allegedly obtained, combined with information I dug up in our web server log and the web make quite a compelling case.

Best Buy Leak Reveals Expected Sprint Galaxy Nexus Stock On April 22nd, Confirms Similar Rumors

We've long suspected that the Spring Galaxy Nexus will be finally crawling out of the labs and into our hands on April 22nd, with today's Sprint planogram note BGR got ahold of confirming it. To make the case even stronger, we'll throw in a tip from one of our sources at Best Buy who sent us these internal images.

While neither picture explicitly names the devices, they should indeed be the Galaxy Nexus and the LG Viper 4G, the latter of which is officially coming out on the same date as well. "Samsung," "Sprint," "Digital Communication," "Sprint Handsets" - these all could mean only one device, which according to our source is most definitely the Nexus.
