It's taking a while, but Google is delivering on its promise to add the Play Store to all Chromebooks made in 2017 and beyond. Over a dozen models received Android app support this summer, but only in the Chrome OS Beta Channel. Three more models now have the Play Store in Chrome OS Stable, meaning owners don't have to switch to a less-stable version of Chrome OS to use Android apps. Read More
ChromeOS development is on fire these days. Just yesterday we got news that we'd have a new setting for closing the lid on a Chromebook. While Allo's new web client scored most of the headlines this week, its sister app Duo wasn't to be left out in the cold. A new update to the video chat app is out with a few changes of its own. Notifications are a significant part of this release with a new toggle in settings for all users and full support for Notification Channels on Android O. Unofficial Changelog: (the stuff we found)
- New notification type for "special events & topics"
- Custom notification channels (Android O)
- Audio/Video toggle moved down to the calling window and icons in the contact list match the current setting
Special events & topics
If you haven't really had a sense of when to use Duo, you can always let the app itself tell you. Read More

This was the case with the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge last year, as well as the current Galaxy S8 and S8+. Some talented developers were able to get these locked-down Samsung phones rooted earlier this month. It's now available to the public, and it's (appropriately) called SamPWND. Read More
