In two months, hundreds of thousands of people will be flocking to cities all over Brazil for the 20th FIFA World Cup. Since getting around in an unfamiliar metropolis can be a bit of a hassle (looking at you, Barcelona), Google has expanded its public transit information for the relevant Brazilian cities. When World Cup fans get to Brazil, they'll be able to look up bus and train info for all twelve cities with scheduled games.

Apparently that one-day Glass event earlier this month was just a trial run for something much bigger – Google Glass is now public. The Glass store is accessible to everyone with the Explorer Edition still selling for $1500. This could (finally) signal big things for Glass.

IFTTT is the kind of black magic that web mages use to bend the Internet to their will. The best part is that the command that gets it to work is pretty simple. There's no abra cadabra or expelliarmus to memorize here. Just head to the website and fill in the blanks within the statement if ___ then ___ with triggers and actions (known as channels) of your choice. Now this special craft isn't just reserved for desktop use, as an official Android app is due out today that aspiring web wizards can carry around as their well-disguised wand.

Facebook just can't keep its hands on its money these days. First the company tossed $1 billion at the folks behind Instagram in order to acquire the service. Then the company agreed to exchange nineteen times that amount for WhatsApp. After that, it dropped another two billion for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. Now it has gone after ProtoGeo, the makers of the Moves activity-tracking app.

ProtoGeo announced the acquisition today in a blog post that's pretty sparse on the details.

Some interesting screenshots have just appeared on XDA that purport to show a new look for the Google Dialer in Android 4.4.3. The contacts are arranged in a series of cards with contact photos instead of a traditional list. It's quite a departure from the current look.

Look, this story is about 450 words long. But you don't have time for all that. Here's the skinny: if you fancy yourself a fan of strategy games, and if you've got a reasonably powerful Android machine with about 4GB of free space, aaaaand you don't mind paying ten bucks for a mobile version of a game that was fifty bucks when it debuted two years ago, then you should go buy XCOM: Enemy Unknown right now.

The overlap of Radio Disney listeners with Android Police readers is probably small, but the new Radio Disney app is probably a big deal to certain demographics. If you've got kids around, this might be a thing for them to use. The app is basically a live stream with a handful of other Disney-esque features built-in.

If there's one thing Verizon's known for, it's high prices. Errr, constant changes that end up costing consumers more money. No, that's not right either. Umm...red! That's it. If there's one thing Verizon's know for (aside from high prices and finding ways to charge customers more money) it's red. You know, the color. That's why we call it "Big Red." Heh.

Anyway, since Verizon is oft-associated with red, it looks like the company will be getting a red HTC One M8, according to @evleaks.

There is an unspoken rule that a ruggedized phone must be ugly as sin. The leaked Kyocera Brigadier sure looks ruggedized, as evidenced by the less than attractive design. What's it look like? Imagine a Casio G'zOne, but perhaps even uglier.
