BlackBerry used to rule the smartphone market, and well, it doesn't now. However, there are still people who crave the feel of a physical keyboard under their thumbs. Last year, they got the KEYOne, and rumors of the KEY2 have percolated in recent months. Today, BlackBerry and TCL have made the KEY2 official. It has a refined keyboard, a dual camera, and it's coming your way later this month.

The KEY2 is debuting with an MSRP of $649, which is $100 more than the KEYOne. What does that extra cash get you? Here are all the basic specs.

BlackBerry says the new keyboard includes optimized key spacing, and the surface has a matte finish that's less slippery. The height of the keys has also increased by 20%, making them easier to press. The "Speed Key" on the keyboard allows you to trigger any of 52 shortcuts you've assigned to the other keys. On the KEYOne, you could only activate those shortcuts from the home screen.

The KEY2 runs Android 8.1 out of the box with Blackberry's customary suite of apps including Hub, BBM, and DTEK. It'll also come pre-loaded with Mozilla's privacy-oriented Firefox Focus browser. BlackBerry promises frequent security updates for the KEY2, as well as at least one major OS update to Android 9.0.

There's no exact release date right now, but TCL says the KEY2 will launch in a couple weeks. BlackBerry only lists a GMS/LTE version for the US market right now. Last year it had a separate CDMA variant of the KEYOne, but there's no word on a similar arrangement this time.
