Lockfeed Lock Screen for Instagram Pinterest &more

Today's roundup is presented by Lockfeed Lock Screen for Instagram Pinterest &more, from Krots. First and foremost Lockfeed is a replacement for your stock Android lock screen. But what is so ingenious about this lock screen replacement is that it offers plenty of publisher channels ranging from news to sports, to social media, which can be set up as a live feed of customized information viewable right from Lockfeed. Functionally users can expect parity when compared to their stock lock screen as they can swipe up, as usual, to unlock their device to the home screen, but they also have the added benefit of swiping left to right to unlock and follow the action related to the content displayed such as opening up an Instagram post or a Pinterest pin in the relevant app.

This lock screen replacement serves live content from select publishers. New content is displayed on the lock screen every time the device is unlocked and put to sleep. Swipe right to unlock as usual, or swipe left to engage with the content on display. Currently, the following publishers are supported:

Storyboard

Android Police coverage: Google launches two new gimmicky photography apps on Android

Storyboard is an interesting video-focused application from Google that can quickly turn your videos into a comic book-like layout. By utilizing individual still shots from within any video, the app will create a stylized design that resembles a comic book's panels. While I can't say this is a "must need" app, it can be useful and is definitely something fun to mess around with.

Monetization: free / no ads / no IAPs

Storyboard transforms your videos into comics. It selects, lays out, and stylizes video frames using experimental research technology from Google that runs entirely on your device.

  • Load a video.
  • Pull down to refresh till you get a layout you like.
  • Tap to share or save. That's it.

If Storyboard wasn't enough of a unique application, Google has also decided to release Selfissimo! in the last week. Instead of focusing on videos, this particular app focuses on capturing selfies, but in a unique way. Simply open the app and point your front-facing camera at yourself. As you move your body around making poses your camera will snap a new pic each time your body's position changes.

Monetization: free / no ads / no IAPs

Strike a pose and the camera will definitely love you. Selfissimo. uses experimental research technology from Google to capture photos automatically each time you pose, encouraging you to capture your best self. Start a photoshoot and Selfissimo. snaps a photo each time you stop moving. Change poses or move the phone a little to retrigger.
