Today marks the next step for exploring our homeworld by adding the virtual reality element with the appropriately named Earth VR.

This evolution offers some really neat features. You can fly over towns, cities, mountain ranges, and lakes — or out into space itself. Since there are about 197 million square miles to cover, Google has offered up some handpicked sights and tours for your viewing pleasure.

The app is available for free on Steam and is exclusive to the Vive for now. Other platforms will be added next year, according to the blog post.
