The new Moto Z line is divisive. It's probably the best example in a limited field of new "modular" phones, consisting of only the Z variants and LG's G5... and LG already dropped the modular design for its more recent V20. But if you've been eying either the Verizon-exclusive Moto Z Droid (or the Moto Z Force Droid with a bigger battery) or the unlocked Moto Z, the sticker shock of the phones and the Moto Mod add-ons may have been a disincentive. Now Motorola is giving a generous 0 off all of them on its web store.

We've seen these kinds of big discount codes before, but with the considerably more expensive Moto Z devices, they're especially welcome. (Best Buy offered a similar deal on Verizon pre-orders.) With the discount, the GSM-unlocked Moto Z comes down to $549.99, the Moto Z Droid is just $474, and the Moto Z Force Droid is $570. The Verizon phones can be upgraded to 64GB of storage for $50 more. The discount is not being offered on the cheaper Moto Z Play or Moto Z Play Droid... and that's a shame, because it would have brought them down below $300. Moto Mods also aren't eligible for any discount at the moment, and the promo code is only good on the Motorola store. Financing is available if you don't want to pay in a lump sum.

The code is presented to users after inputting their email address, and it isn't actually taken off the price of the phone until after they've entered their payment and shipping details, so be extra-careful that you're actually getting the discount applied to the final charge. The Motorola site says that the promo code is valid for a limited time, asterisk, but there's no indication of when it actually ends. It's almost certain that this is a US-only promotion.
