We've known about the Sony Xperia Ear since February when it was announced at MWC along with 3 other prototype projects. At the time, Sony said it was coming late in the summer, but the date was later postponed to November, and here we are. The Xperia Ear is now available for pre-order exclusively on the Xperia Store online in Europe. It'll cost GBP 179 in the UK and EUR 199 in France, Spain, Germany, and other European countries.
So what's the Xperia Ear? It's a Bluetooth headset, but it's not made for music as much as it's a personal assistant living inside your ear. Think of it as OK Google or Alexa or Siri, but well, in your head. Literally. It can read you WhatsApp and Facebook messages and if you nod, you can dictate replies to them. It can perform web searches for you, help you navigate to a location, read you the news, tell you the weather, and keep you updated on your schedule.
You can only pre-order it in Europe for now, so I checked a couple of countries and got the direct links below, but it's probably available in a few other European countries too. Units will ship in mid-November, and Sony will send you back a EUR 50 or GBP 45 voucher toward any phone purchase on the Xperia Store.
