Today's roundup is presented by AccuBattery from Digibites. Barring any accidents, the battery is the part of your phone that generally wears out the fastest, so it pays to keep an eye on its health. AccuBattery tests your battery's effective capacity in milliamp-hours to see if it's deteriorated, including tools for live reporting and battery life projections. The Battery Alarm feature tells users when to stop charging to make the usable life of your phone even longer.
AccuBattery is the only battery app that measure your battery capacity (mAh) in your device and help you to protect your battery health. Batteries only have a limited amount of charging cycles. Every time you charge your device, it wears out your battery capacity. Scientific research shows that battery life can be extended by 200%, when you charge your device to only 80%. AccuBattery measures the actual battery usage via the battery charge controller during the time an app is in the foreground. Android calculates battery usage using profiles that device manufacturers provide, like how much power the CPU uses, but in practice, these numbers are highly inaccurate.
- Measure real battery capacity in mAh
- Use the battery charge alarm to prolong battery health
- See how much wear the battery sustains with each charge session
- Look up the discharge speed and battery consumption per app
- See how long it takes before your battery is charged (remaining charge time)
- See when you will run out of battery (remaining battery time)
- Screen on or screen off estimations
- percentage of deep sleep when the device is in standby mode
- Ongoing notification for quick access to real time battery statistics
- Real time CPU and battery usage overlay for spotting battery draining processes.
- Access to historical data of more than 1 day.
- Detailed battery statistics in notification

Android Police coverage: Google Trips travel itinerary app goes live after extensive private beta [APK Download]
Google's latest Android app is for the traveler who wants to check everything out. Trips can plan out an entire journey, including local food, weather, and points of interest, plus the usual flights and hotels. It even works offline if you download the places you want to go in advance. It can grab your trip info from Gmail and the like to automatically fill out your itinerary. Of course, the amount of information is limited by where you're actually going.
Google Trips makes exploring the world easier by organizing your essential info in one place and making it available even offline. Get activity suggestions based on what’s nearby, customizeable day plans, and your travel reservations from Gmail. Your travel reservations are automatically gathered from Gmail and organized into individual trips. Each trip contains day plans, things to do, food and drink suggestions, and more.
Parallel Windows for Nougat
Android Police coverage: Parallel Windows for Nougat lets you run two copies of an app in split screen
Google's splitscreen implementation in Nougat is pretty great, but it doesn't like to have the same app on both sides of the screen. Parallel Windows can "mirror" an app to put two copies on screen at once. It's a bit janky at the moment (the app is in alpha) and not every app is compatible, but if you want more than Chrome on both sides of the screen it's a solution at least.
If you happen to be a fan of split-window mode in Android Nougat, there is a good chance that may find this nifty tools App that I have been working on. What it does? 3 things as of now:
#1 Provide an onscreen shortcut to toggle split-screen
#2 Quickly launch any new App in split-screen mode through a floating mini App drawer.
#3 Mirror an App.
YES. You can run two Windows of an App, two windows of almost any App on a phone but MANY windows of an App on tablet, as seen on the screenshots.
Android Police coverage: DeskDock shares your computer's mouse and keyboard with your Android device
If you keep your Android tablet near your desktop on a regular basis, this tool could be incredibly handy. It allows users to control an Android device with a PC's mouse and keyboard, via a connected USB cable. It doesn't even need root! Unfortunately, I found it to be finicky in practice - the server and client apps didn't want to talk on my Pixel C. The pro version adds some bells and whistles plus clipboard sharing for $5.49.
DeskDock allows you to share your computer's mouse with your Android devices via a USB cable. The app enables you to control your Android device as if it was an additional monitor for your computer. Simply move your computer's mouse cursor over the screen boundaries to use it with your Android devices.
• Use your computer's mouse with your Android devices
• Share clipboard between computer and Android devices
• Supports Windows, Linux and macOS
• Works on all Android versions starting from 4.1
• NO rooted device required
• Shortcut for simulating multitouch
• Connect multiple Android devices to one computer
• Flexible arrangement of devices
• Customizable mouse button actions
• Customizable mouse pointer speed
• Ready for Android Nougat
Nick Jr. - Shows & Games
Android Police coverage: Nick Jr. now has an official app, probably more for your kids
Nick Jr., the cable channel dedicated to preschool and earlier programming, now has an official Android app. It has all the usual stuff for this kind of thing, including full streaming TV shows, games for the kids, and an easy-to-use interface. Naturally it requires a cable subscription to access most of the video.
Welcome to the Nick Jr. App—the home of Shimmer & Shine, PAW Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines, and all your preschooler’s favorite Nick Jr. shows. Download this free app today and kids can watch full episodes, play educational games, discover original videos, and, with a tap, uncover other silly surprises. There’s even easy access to hundreds of additional episodes when you sign in with your TV provider.
FOX Sports VR
Android Police coverage: FOX Sports VR lets you watch games in the dream house you'll never be able to afford
I've never been able to afford to watch a football game in a swanky stadium suite, but FOX wants to give me the experience virtually. That's the point of FOX Sports VR, which broadcasts live sports games to a Google Cardboard unit to let you live your fantasy of having enough disposable income that you don't have to bump elbows with the mortals in general seating. It works in fullscreen too, though that sort of defeats the point, and you'll need a cable login to watch anything.
FOX Sports VR lets you experience top live sports events in ways you never could before. For supported events, you have a ticket to your own VIP stadium suite, where you can watch live events in immersive Virtual Reality. You can even teleport effortlessly to one of several on-the-field VR camera positions that let you see the action in brand new ways. When live games aren't on, you can check out VR highlights or just relax in the FOX Sports GO Theater, watching a selection of FOX Sports content [coming soon].

Swipe Widget for Facebook BETA
Swipe is an awesome alternative to the official Facebook app (which, admittedly, isn't a high bar to clear). This widget offers the same thing on your homescreen, with scrollable feeds for Facebook's notifications and messages (or both at once). There are a ton of theme options to suit any color scheme, and the widgets can work with the first-party app or even other third-party alternatives.
Introducing Swipe Widget for Facebook - a highly-customizable, theme-able, and beautiful widget that lets you view your Facebook Notifications and Messages right on your home screen. Themes. - Swipe Widget includes themes just as they are in Swipe for Facebook. The default Facebook Blue, Material Dark, and AMOLED Black are available for free, with other colored themes unlockable with a one-time in-app purchase (which includes two NEW gorgeous themes - Transparent Light and Transparent Dark).
Tasker, every obsessive tweaker's favorite app, can do some amazing stuff. But it doesn't work with everything, and in fact to do some of the neater stuff an app needs to explicitly support it. This app allows some basic Tasker functionality for almost any app by integrating it with Android's default Share menu. The standard version can only send and receive text, but upgrading for about a buck opens full functionality.
Add Tasker support to any app with AutoShare. Do anything on an ever growing number of apps with AutoShare intents available here:http://goo.gl/r1ibqy. You can also share to AutoShare from the regular Android share menu and get the share info into Tasker. Simply use the regular Android share menu and choose AutoShare from the list and the Subject, Text or files will be sent to Tasker where you can do what you want with them. On the corresponding Enter Task you have several variables available:
Storage Quick Settings Tile
Android Nougat allows third-party apps to stick new shortcuts in the Quick Settings menu. Here's one that goes straight to the Storage screen in Settings. You're welcome.
A quick settings shortcut so that you can quickly access your built-in storage explorer from any screen.
See Jane Go is a ride-sharing service for women only. It's an intriguing idea, especially considering some of the security and vetting problems that have hampered Uber and Lyft. Unfortunately it's only in Orange County, California at the moment, so the vast majority of ladies who'd like to test it out won't be able to. We'll see if the business model can sustain an expanded launch.
Finally, a ride-hail option designed with women in mind. See Jane Go, now available in Orange County, CA, offers a women-driving-women trusted alternative to taxi and other rideshare apps, such as Uber and Lyft. (Because we think getting into cars with strange men should be reserved only for online dating.) You’re just one polished fingernail tap away from having a fabulous female take you to your destination. Whether you’re going to work or to work out, you’ve got a trusted gal pal to get you there.
Hero Care - American Red Cross
The latest Red Cross app is just for families of US military service members. The subject matter is pretty grim here, but tools including complete medical and career history, access to emergency and non-emergency care, and VA or Red Cross locations will certainly be useful for the intended userbase. There's also a quasi-social network for military family photos.
Hero Care by the American Red Cross is a complete solution for members of the military, veterans, and their families to prepare for, cope with and respond to the challenges of military service. The Red Cross is the only civilian organization authorized to serve as the emergency communications link to service members with their families back home. Hero Care enables families to easily set up and submit an emergency request should circumstances at home require it - 24 hours a day, 365 a year, no matter where in the world service members are stationed.

CNNgo for Android TV
CNN's official app for Android TV is pretty cool: it provides basic, bite-sized video stories with an interface that fits the platform to a T, no cable subscription required. There's no option for a live feed, but if you want simple, fast video news that play nice with the leanback launcher, there aren't any better options at the moment.

Angry Birds Learn English
It's fair to say that the shine has worn off of Rovio's Angry Birds franchise. Once you've seen a movie full of piss jokes it's hard to shell out for IAP. But the Aggravated Avians are branching out to language learning services with this combination game-teaching app. It allows users to learn English or German as a second language with videos and instructional activities. If this is where all those characters end up, it could be worse.
On Piggy Island, Red and his friends prove themselves in bold adventures and save their beloved eggs time and time again from the ravenous pigs. Children from 8 years onwards playfully learn languages by watching the funny Angry Birds videos. It’s all about learning with joy and experiencing success in the English language – which is motivating, creates passion for learning and means sustainable progress.
Manufacturer And Tie-In Apps
Android Police coverage: [Pawesome] Garmin releases Delta Smart dog training and activity tracker with Canine app for Android
Garmin makes a pet tracker now. But it's much more than a GPS tag: the Delta Smart gadget can monitor your dog's training activity, number of barking sessions, and even remotely vibrate or chirp for training purposes. The app can control all of the standard functions, plus show a historical graph of your dog's training and habits from anywhere, even for multiple pets. Too bad it's $150.
Garmin Canine mobile app works with the Delta Smart dog training device to help you maintain a healthy and happy relationship with your dog.
• Monitor your dog’s activity while at home or receive up-to-date stats when you get home. Know how often your dog was barking, at what time and the correction level; plus monitor if and when she triggered a Keep Away Tag.
• Use your Android phone as a Training Remote: Control all corrective actions, including tone, vibration, and stimulation with incremental levels. Later, view a recap of the training session.
• Keep Away Tags: Configure settings for automatic corrections that will activate when your dog is in close proximity to the tag. Then, view recorded data and see what sensor he was too close to.
• Manage multiple dogs: Create individual profiles and training settings for multiple dogs.
Android Police coverage: Samsung releases Samsung Focus, an all-in-one productivity app [APK Download]
Samsung has been releasing a lot of office-type apps lately. The newest is a sort of catch-all organizer that can handle email, calendars, to-do lists, and contacts all from the same interface. It's surprisingly cross-compatible, too - every major standard for Exchange-style work info is supported. The app is only for Samsung phones and tablets, which isn't surprising, but it needs Android 6.0.1 or higher, which is.
SAMSUNG FOCUS is a unified productivity application that enables Exchange ActiveSync (“EAS”) , IMAP and POP3 users to manage email, calendar, task, memo, and contacts easily in one place. Users can have same experience on their mobile environment with Samsung Focus in order to increase their productivity in their work.

Star Wars Studio FX App

Take a video of your favorite dolls action figures, then add special effects and sound clips from the movies. The videos can be shared or stored locally on your phone. Only a few goodies are unlocked at the beginning, but more can be grabbed with sustained play.

• Save your video clip to your mobile device to replay.
