HERE Maps was a pretty descriptive name, but it lacked pizzazz. Starting today, the app is called HERE WeGo, and it's getting a few improvements to make navigation easier. There are even some entirely new navigation options displayed in the app if you happen to be in certain cities.

According to the developers, the new search box goes right to selecting a navigation method without an extra click of the "Find a route" button. The route comparison screen has gotten an overhaul as well. If you're in a city with support for the Car2Go car sharing service, that will be shown as an option in the comparison screen, taking into account where the closest car is. Select cities will also have taxi information listed along with estimated fares (fares will expand to more cities over time). If you're the sporting type, the new route comparison screen will offer better biking information. Specifically, the routes will show the elevation profile so you can decide if the ride would be too tiring.

With the denser information on the route screen, HERE WeGo uses a lighter theme for improved readability. There are also various little UI tweaks throughout the app. Most of the features added to the app will come to the web interface soon too.
