Motorola has long had the worst camera app of any mainstream OEM, which is a bummer as the 2015 Moto X Pure had a decent sensor finally. Now, Moto has posted a revamped camera app in the Play Store, but you probably can't use it yet. It's only for use with the company's 2016 devices like the Moto G4 and upcoming Moto X refresh.

Right off the bat, you'll notice the new camera app has full manual controls. That's something Motorola has been sorely missing. Camera controls like HDR and flash are also more accessible in this version. Motorola also notes you can "Tap to change focus and exposure." If that means traditional tap-to-focus, count me in. The old camera app had a bizarre focus target you could drag around the screen, but no regular tapping functionality.

Again, this app isn't available for any device on sale in most countries right now. The Moto G4 has launched in a few markets like India already, which is why there are reviews for the app. The rest of us will have a shot in the coming weeks.
