In today's groundbreaking earth-shattering life-changing cosmic-displacing news, OnePlus has revealed that you will not need an invite to buy the OnePlus 3, which will be announced on June 14. That's the gist of the story really, you can start writing comments about how mind-blowing that is or how I'm so obviously biased for using such a sarcastic tone, but if you stick around to read the next paragraph, I promise to give you some background information with a more impartial tone.

Still here? Alright. So ever since the first OnePlus One, the company has been using an invite system to let users buy its phones. (This birthed a lot of memes and many invite hunts from eager users.) It said the reason is that demand was too high, making it difficult to meet all orders in a timely manner: requiring invites meant that it could tightly funnel orders and thus mostly fulfill them on time. With each subsequent release, OnePlus has been able to scale its production and has taken less and less time to remove the invite requirement. So it appears that the company is now ready to open the floodgates and let anyone order a OnePlus 3 when the device finally goes on sale.

When is that? June 14, 12:30PM Eastern Time. OnePlus has already announced its VR launch experience but it has now released an app to go along with it. The Loop is OnePlus' take on a virtual headquarter in outer space and it requires Google Cardboard or some VR headset to be viewed properly. For the first two hours, the OnePlus 3 will be available exclusively in the app, but at 3:00PM Eastern Time, it will move on to the OnePlus website. As for the price or real availability/shipping date, they're anyone's guess right now although we do have some reliable information about the specs.
