Chromecast owners know that even though Google's tiny stream machine is one of the cheapest on the market, it occasionally gets freebies for online video and music streaming services that add some major value. The latest goodie to come to owners of the original Chromecast and the Chromecast Audio is Pandora One, the music service's premium advertising-free tier. New owners can get two months of listening free, which has an approximate value of $8.

Offers tend to come and go, and it isn't always clear who's eligible based on when they bought their Chromecast. This one isn't showing up for me, so neither my original Chromecast model nor my Cast-enabled SHIELD TV are eligible for the promotion. Based on the last few times something like this was posted, you can probably cash in on the free Pandora One time if you made your purchase in the last month or so, or of course if you buy a new one. Unfortunately the terms on Google's support page say that this promotion is only available in the US.

Chromecast users should connect their unit to their phone via the Chromecast app or to the desktop version of Chrome with Google's official extension, then go to Pandora.com/gift. Upon activation your Pandora account will be upgraded for two months from the day of entry, and there's no need to enter payment details or remember to cancel after the promotion is over. The ad-free music should play wherever Pandora does, no matter what device you happen to be using at the time.
