Android Auto is probably the most expensive form of Android you're considering paying for, and the options aren't nearly as diverse as they are with phones. You either have to buy the latest model from a car maker that offers support, or you upgrade your stereo. On the positive side, more manufacturers are jumping on board. Fiat Chrysler will show off Android Auto support at this year's CES.

Since most folks don't exactly attend trade shows, what matters is that Fiat Chrysler plans to roll out Android Auto (along with Apple CarPlay) in select models around the world during 2016. Buyers will find the feature available on vehicles equipped with the fourth generation of the Uconnect system.

At CES, Chrysler will show off the technology in a 2016 Dodge Charger Pursuit (that's the one police officers drive to outrun whatever it is you go grocery shopping in) equipped with the Uconnect 12.1 system sporting a 1024-by-768 pixel display. The company says this year's units will include more responsive touchscreens, improved performance, and faster startup times. In the in-car navigation industry, that's still something to work toward.

Fiat Chrysler has not yet announced which vehicles will get Android Auto, but the news should come sometime later this year. As the car maker rolls out the news, it won't be alone. Ford has also just announced its Android Auto support for its new vehicles as well.
