Today, there's no shortage of ways to stream music from your smartphone or tablet. Apps like Pandora and Google Play Music make easy work of offering access to a plethora of tunes, but if you want the best experience either has to offer, you have to hand over a monthly fee. PlayTime Internet Radio from Handy Apps is a new app that brings access to over 50,000 internet radio stations to your mobile, completely free of charge.

The app is broken down into several primary categories, including music, news, sports, and talk radio. From there, each category offers several different options, all of which are readily available online for free. Music, for example, can be sorted by style first, followed by popular artists, songs, and stations. These lists are constantly rotating as the aggregated radio stations play different tracks, so there's always something new to listen to.

Music can then be played by station or artist, so if you want to listen to the same artist for a while, it will automatically find stations playing that artist and switch. Otherwise, once a station is selected, it will continue to play from that particular station until you change it. If a station becomes unavailable for one reason or another, it will automatically find a similar station and switch to that. Basically, you can just set it and forget it.

It also allows you to favorite songs, artists, and stations. This way, over time you can curate your own station of sorts, playing only the artists and songs that you like. The history feature is also fantastic, as it lets you to look back through everything you've listened to, which comes in handy when looking for a particular station that you may have forgotten to add to your favorites (I learned this from experience).

For those times when you're in the mood to try something new, PlayTime also suggests similar currently-playing songs on other stations. This is a nice way to find similar artists and new stations to add your favorites, further enhancing a personalized experience in PlayTime.

Ultimately, PlayTime is a nicely curated app that brings an absolute slew of content from music to talk radio to your smartphone. It has an intuitive, easy-to-understand interface that is not only easy to navigate, but also supports Chromecast streaming as of one of the more recent updates. If you've been looking for a new way to listen to music, PlayTime may be it. Head below to give it a shot.
