Calendar apps are a dime a dozen on the Play Store, but few of them have the polish, power, and intuitive interface of Today Calendar. Now the app can add one more bullet point to its list of handy options that make it easier and faster to schedule appointments and tasks: natural language processing.

What that means is that you no longer have to fuss with manually picking dates, times, and durations. You simply type them as you're making a new entry and Today will interpret the specific details and schedule accordingly. Words like todaytomorrowFriday, in 3 daysspecific dates, holiday names, and times like 2pmfor 3 hours, from 1pm until 5pm, are processed by the app without the need to go into date and time selection. The app's changelog gives a few specific examples of appointment entry formats that are now supported:

WHAT'S NEW

Today Calendar 4.0
Natural Language Processing:
Today now allows you to input events using natural language. Simply say something like "Party at John's house, next Friday at 8pm." and Today will handle the rest.
Other Examples:
Wait for a call from Ben at 11am for 3 hours.
Visiting the in-laws tomorrow morning until next Saturday evening.
Buy loads of stuff Black Friday morning.
Buy some bread 3 days after next Wednesday in the morning.
Tutor at work yesterday at 2pm until yesterday at 6pm.

Having had natural language processing for months in Todoist, I can tell you that once you get used to it, there's no going back to manual date selectors. It's a very convenient feature to use and luckily you can try it out for free for 7 days in Today Calendar. After that, you will have to buy the Pro version which is now on sale for $2.59.
