Online streaming music is all well and good, but if you're hankering for the good old days of sliding FM dials, Rdio wants to oblige your craving. The long-standing streaming service is adding a new section to its app called "On the Air on Rdio," which gives users access to digital streams of 500 United States radio stations. The collection of stations covers basically every major market in the county, usually with a mix of top 40, classic rock, country, sports, and news content.

The radio stations come from a partnership with Cumulus Media, a radio conglomerate that owns all of the stations added. The company now has a significant stake in Rdio. The partnership began almost two years ago, but it's taken this long to add the functionality to the Android app.

Looking around the app itself, I can't actually find any local stations to stream. Either they aren't available at the free, ad-supported tier - which would be an odd move, since the standard radio stations would presumably include advertising - or the update is rolling out in stages and hasn't reached all users yet. The version on my phone is 3.6.2.61, so if you're seeing something newer, drop the file by APK Mirror if you'd be so kind.
