Saturday mornings during my childhood were all about three things: a couple hours of freedom from parents, sugary cereal, and awesome cartoons. One of the best cartoons was DuckTales, the story of a cranky old duck, Scrooge, who liked to swim in a pool of gold coins and yell at his nephews as they tried to solve a mystery or rewrite history. There were a lot of race cars, lasers, and aeroplanes, along with villains and exotic locales. If reading about DuckTales is filling you with yearnings for your younger years, then this news is going to make your day. Disney has added Ducktales: Remastered to its ever-growing Android game library.

While the game may be new to the Play Store, it has actually been kicking around for some time now. It was originally released on the last generation of gaming consoles back in 2013. This seems to be a pretty faithful port of the console version of the game. DuckTales: Remastered is your typical platform side-scroller, with all your normal gimmicks. Players will be collecting power-ups, extra lives, and treasure, as well as jumping over obstacles (and maybe ducking under a few too). Fighting a variety of enemies and some epic boss battles are sure to keep you from getting bored.

The Android version of this title carries a rather hefty price of $9.99, albeit with none of those pesky IAPs. It may be a little on the spendy side, but that pool full of gold coins isn't going to fill itself.

There are some nice features to help justify the rather high entry fee. Bluetooth controllers are supported, an easy mode allows younger players to enjoy the game, the hand-drawn artwork looks great, and the voice acting is all done by the original cast.
