Sony announced the budget-oriented Xperia E4 just a few weeks ago, and there's already a new variant of the device. The Xperia E4g has the "g" at the end because it has more Gs in its cellular radio. Yes, this version has 4G LTE instead of just 3G. There are a few other differences as well.

Even though the devices share the same design language and name, there are a few notable differences. Here are the specs for the E4g.

  • Display: 4.7-inch 960x540 LCD
  • RAM: 1GB
  • Processor: MediaTek MT6732 1.5GHz quad-core
  • Storage: 8GB
  • Camera: 5MP, 2MP
  • Size: 133 x 71 x 10.8 mm, 135g
  • battery: 2300mAh
  • OS: Android 4.4.4

The non-LTE E4 has a larger 5-inch LCD at the same resolution, and has a corresponding increase in overall size and weight. The E4g runs on a faster ARM processor than the regular E4 too (1.5 vs 1.3 Ghz). Both have a 2300mAh battery, but the smaller display should balance out the power drain from LTE and the faster processor to keep battery life consistent across both models.

The E4g will be available in April for €129 ($146). A dual-SIM variant will also be on sale, but market availability is not yet clear.
