Good news, Android One users in India! Whether you bought a Karbonn Sparkle V, Micromax Canvas A1, or Spice Dream UNO, you have probably felt a little bit abandoned when Lollipop was released and your device was left running Android 4.4.4, while new phones launching in Indonesia and the Philippines have been donned not only with Lollipop, but with Android 5.1!

Following the earlier promise from Google India that Lollipop is only a few weeks away, Caesar Sengupta, Product Management Director at Google, has announced that One phones in India should have already started getting the Lollipop treat. It's a gradual rollout on a weekly basis, so only some selected random devices will get the OTA update notification. Apparently, being connected to a Wi-Fi network improves your chances of being picked. You might as well stand next to your router and pray.

To those with +Android One phones in India, here’s where we are with the over-the-air (OTA) update that will bring Android Lollipop to you soon. We’ve already started rolling out Lollipop to a small number of phones in India. This is a gradual process and so each week we’ll push the OTA update to more phones selected at random (pro-tip: connecting over WiFi will increase your odds). We thank you again for your patience, and please stay tuned for further updates.

We still haven't received any official confirmation whether this is Android 5.0 or 5.1, but it most likely is the latter. In that case, prepare to have a suite of fixes and improvements on top of Lollipop, like easier Wi-Fi or Bluetooth selection from the Quick Settings panel, a simpler and faster screen pinning experience, the most subtle screen unlocking change, and more.
