Sony is apparently really serious about creating its own Google Glass competitor. You'd think Google's inability to talk everyone into wearing a computer on their faces would give Sony pause, but here we are with the official Sony SmartEyeglass app in the Play Store.

The app itself won't show up in your app list. Instead, it can be accessed via Sony's Smart Connect hub or in the notification area. The SmartEyeglass app will include access to notification and display settings for the accessory. There's also a trackpad in the app that can be used to control the SmartEyeglass from your phone.

Sony has demoed its vision for SmartEyeglass a few times, but it's a vaporware product for the time being. With Google re-tooling Glass it will be interesting to see what Sony does with SmartEyeglass.
