Development of the popular Timely alarm clock slowed to a crawl when Google acquired the company just over a year ago, but there have been a few small updates since then. Today is a big one, though. Timely v1.3 adds some new features, fixes some bugs, and even adopts a few Lollipop UI elements.

Here's the full changelog for the new version of Timely.

  • Select your own sounds
  • Upcoming alarm notification
  • Option to ask for the challenge to snooze
  • Google Now support for timers and reuses alarms
  • Android 5.0 adaptions:
  • Colored notifications
  • Colored status and action bar
  • Colored Overview headers
  • support for new alarm API to show the alarm icon
  • Numerous fixes for crashes and visual glitches

A few of the changes account for new implementations for alarms and timers in Android. For example, the alarm icon in the status bar wasn't showing up before this update, now it does. You can also set timers and alarms with Timely through the Google app (voice or text).

As for the Android 5.0 stuff, it's mostly color changes. The status and nav bars are now translucent, and it uses a proper header hero color in the app switcher. It's not a huge departure, but it looks less dated. Check below for the old UI. The app is still free, so maybe it's time to take another look at Timely.
