HTC was quick to announce Lollipop upgrade plans a few months ago, and today those plans begin to come to fruition. The first large-scale HTC rollout of Android 5.0 is starting today with the unlocked and developer edition One M8.

VP of product management Mo Versi tweeted just a little bit ago that technical approval had been granted by Google and the OTA was headed out to users. Several replies to his tweet say the update is already arriving, so check your device. The update will include Android 5.0 as well as a new version of Sense 6.

These devices are up first for HTC because there are no carriers in the way. The versions we get in the US through AT&T, Verizon and the rest will go through an additional round of certification, but HTC promised a speedy turnaround for those phones too.
