Amazon is fond of comparison tables that show how capable the Fire TV is, but there's always been one glaring omission—HBO Go. The premium streaming service has been listed as "coming soon" for a long time, but today Amazon gets to add another checkbox as HBO Go comes to Fire TV.

I don't just mean figuratively that Amazon can fill in the checkbox. They really already updated the graphics on the Fire TV page to indicate HBO Go support. The HBO app can be installed to the device right now, but you still need a cable subscription for the time being. That's supposed to change next year.

Amazon's $39 Fire TV Stick still lacks support, but it will be added this spring. It's not clear why the delay is necessary as the difference in processing power shouldn't affect streaming video. Maybe Amazon is trying to push the more expensive version?
