If I had to guess which animated show the mobile game developers at Cartoon Network enjoy most, I'd throw my money behind Adventure Time (followed closely by Regular Show, which was tied before today). The company has already released no less than four games based on the series into the Play Store, and now it's rewarding fans with two more: Rock Bandits and Fionna Fights.
Despite its musical influences, Rock Bandits is a side-scrolling 2D platformer starring Finn and Jake. Players will use the former's sword and the latter's stretchy powers to fight through twenty levels spread across four worlds. To flesh out the experience, there just so happens to be an original comic from writer Ryan North and artist Shelli Paroline contained within the app.
Fionna Fights is somewhat of a 2D shooter, only you use a sword to slay an endless wave of enemies rather than a blaster. There are multiple blades to use, various animals to ride, and the option to play as Finn. The experience doesn't look as deep as Rock Bandits, but it's one more Adventure Time game for people who can't settle for five.
In standard Cartoon Network fashion, neither of these games are free, nor do they contain in-app purchases. Rock Bandits will set players back $1.99, while Fionna Fights goes for half that price. For some reason both are listed as incompatible with all of my devices, but they're showing up for some of the AP staff. If they're not working with yours yet, just give it a bit. Someone probably needs to pull a lever somewhere.
