OnePlusOne-Thumb

The fashionably late July over-the-air update for the OnePlus One that bumps the handset up to Android 4.4.4 is beginning to roll out as of now and will continue through the end of the week (it's staged, with 10% rolling out first). In addition to new versions of Google apps, the update contains a cooler calibration for its screen and fixes that stop the phone from activating off-screen gestures while in your pocket.

There's also a new Clear Image camera feature that stitches together over 10 individual photos to produce an image with a higher resolution. Here is a comparison shot with the photo of interest positioned on the right.

Unfortunately, this update does not fix the OnePlus One's touch screen issue where it fails to distinguish between taps within close proximity of one another. This problem makes itself most apparent when typing, and the issue is present on a majority of devices, driving many people up the wall. Both a workaround fix and a proper fix are on the way, but they're not bundled up with the goodies contained within this OTA.

Changelog

View the things that are in the changelog below.

What's new:

  • Upgraded to Android 4.4.4
  • Updated to new versions of Google apps
  • Added Clear Image
  • Added new (colder) calibration for the screen
  • Proximity sensor prevents activation of off-screen gestures while in your pocket
  • Capacitive touch keys supported in the recovery mode
  • Increased capacitive button illumination
  • Improved overall stability
  • Fixed issues with vibration being disabled during Quiet Hours
  • Fixed lockscreen not updating the track information during music playback
  • Fixed microphone volume for all formats in the Voice Recorder app
  • Fixed “OK, Google” not triggering voice search in Google Now
  • Fixed Viber calls not working
  • Fixed battery percent not updating in custom lock screens
  • Fixed PicasaSync
  • Fixed Camera “O” gesture activating lockscreen instead of triggering camera
  • Fixed wallpapers not applying in full screen, taking the wrong size when cropping, etc

Update: In addition to the above, we've noticed the following changes:

  • Speaker volume while on a call is higher - this is a very welcome change, as the speaker used to be practically unusable unless you're in a totally silent room.
  • Mic sensitivity when using voice commands is much improved - the One can finally hear what you're saying at an arm's length or more rather than just about an inch or two. If you use Google's Search app and interact with it using voice, the differences you will see are going to be night and day.
  • The mobile data symbol in the notification area now shows LTE instead of 4G when using an LTE network.
  • As part of Android 4.4.3/4.4.4, you will see a revamped dialer.
  • The model number is now being reported as A0001 for some reason.
  • Heads up notifications (Settings -> Notification drawer -> Heads up).
  • You can now search in Settings.

Manual Installation

Update 11:45am PT: We've pulled today's OTA update zip and made it available below for manual flashing. Considering it's only out for about 10% of devices right now, quite a few of you may be interested.

File size: 113 MB (119,237,784 bytes)

MD5: 489fd3e8f13611ee26ae6e8fc327d28e

Install: To install the update, boot into recovery, then sideload using adb sideload - if you've ever updated a Nexus device before, then you'll feel right at home, as the steps are exactly the same. If you're using TWRP, it will ask if you want to re-root at the end.

Just to add onto the touch screen problem, it will be addressed later this month. Its apparently a touchscreen firmware problem.

"As many of your comments have already found, our investigation into this issue has led to isolating the cause of the behavior to the touchscreen firmware found within the One. Unfortunately, Cyanogen does not control this element, we merely serve as a vehicle to deliver and utilize the firmware as provided by other partners.

The second build, also targeted for August, will provide the kernel patch and temporary workaround mentioned for this ticket. This must go through its own approval process as well, but we understand the urgency of this particular fix and are pursuing this second builds approval with that same urgency in mind."

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

I can't wait for that patch and the subsequent proper fix. The issues unlocking the phone with a pattern and random jerkiness in apps have gotten ridiculously bad.

      • Nick

Me too! This issue is the only thing that's keeping me from loving this phone 100%

    • jonathan3579

So wait... They're going to provide a workaround until someone else fixes it?

      • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

That's correct. Not much else Cyanogen Inc can do, as it's not their fault. Even finding a workaround in the meantime is going above and beyond what they have to.

        • jonathan3579

Is it OnePlus' issue? Qualcomm? I am just curious.

          • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

I can't be 100% sure, but probably the panel manufacturer or whoever handles display drivers. I don't know who that is exactly.

          • remister

            Isn't JDI the screen manufacturer?

          • ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

            Synaptics for the drivers

          • Francisco Franco

            Synaptics handles the touch firmware.

          • remister

Just saw that Franco kernel implements the correct drivers, should be out with next update also.

          • megatomic

            Synaptics I believe.

        • duse

Whoever officially sells the phone, which I think is OnePlus, is responsible for fixing it, period. Doesn't matter if the problem is from a supplier or whatever.

          • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Of course. I never said OnePlus wasn't responsible for fixing it. But Cyanogen Inc isn't and can't, not until OnePlus can get whoever is responsible to provide a fix to them.

      • zephiK

Cyanogen can't fix it because its a problem with the provider of the firmware (Synaptic). Its like saying you have a computer but you have a defective Graphics Card driver.... the manufacturer can't fix it, they have to wait for their partner NVIDIA/AMD to fix it.

At least Cyanogen is doing whatever they possibly can instead of just leaving it there without a workaround making it more obvious.

        • jonathan3579

I'm fine with a workaround for the time being. I just thought they were more involved than that.

          • zephiK

Cyanogen can't really do anything about it. Its within the firmware driver which is most likely closed source and Cyanogen doesn't have access to it. So they'll just have to wait.

  • jonathan3579

Finally... I'll have to wait until I get home to check for it.

  • Mike

Is this phone still hard to acquire? I gave up following it because I didn't want to put in the effort to trying to get one.

    • bearballz

Yup still tough. Would like to get this phone, but I'm not jumping through hoops to get an invite.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

It's pretty easy to score an invite at this point, there are a lot more of them floating around nowadays.

      • jeffhesser

I am amazed at how hard it has been to score one of these invites... I just lost my phone and I'm on the clock for buying a POS used phone or scoring an invite. I've been twitter stalking, forum hunting, and what not to no avail. If someone has tips please share! Thanks

        • Daniel Pasut

search the hastag #oneplusone on twitter, and most recent posts with "oneplus one" on google+. It took me a few hours but I was able to score one. Good luck in your search!

    • Daniel Pasut

I spent about 3 hours trying to get an invite and got one. If you keep an eye out on google+ and twitter, they aren't that difficult to come by.

      • tintin.92

        What? HOW?

This guy promised me an invite months back, but he hasn't gotten his to share yet, so I've been waiting patiently... But NY patience is wearing thin.

        Where did you get it?

        • Daniel Pasut

I ended up getting on off of someone on google+ giving them away.

          • tintin.92

Pardon me for being so tacky... But would you happen to have one to give out?

          • Daniel Pasut

haha unfortunately no. I just got the phone a week ago. It'll be a few weeks before I get the invites to give share probably.

    • http://facebook.com/cain.sullivan Alex Cain

if you invest a little time on their forums you can get an invite typically in a week, thats how i just got mine.

  • [A]dri[A]n

Awesome! Just got mine on Saturday and I'm loving it :) Hopefully it get the update soon :P

    • remister

When did you order yours and where do you reside?

      • [A]dri[A]n

I ordered it on Thursday. I was pleasantly surprised by the short delivery time. I live in Los Angeles, CA.

        • remister

Very cool, I ordered mine on Friday.

So should be here tomorrow for me. They got a shipping facility out in City of Industry.
What manufacturer date did it state on yours?

          • [A]dri[A]n

No wonder it got here so fast Haha Uhh, I don't even know. I haven't checked.

  • http://www.about.me/kendallseabury Kendall Seabury

So do I need an invite to get this update?

    • technowhiteboi

      Lol

    • Sean Long

^^^^ Is the reason I will never own own of these POS phones. One plus One play games with people phone company....no thanks....CM needs to get out of there before their reputation is ruined.

      • DirkBelig

^^^ Spot the butthurt crybaby who can't get an invite, probably because 1+ senses he's a crybaby and thus not worthy of one.

        • HagenBrown

You do realize why they have the invite system right?

It's to keep the buzz going until they can delay long enough that costs drop and they lose less money. It'll be mysterious available to all once the next nexus is out, or when the new xiaomi is widely available.

      • https://soundcloud.com/onthefencepodcast Brandon

It's not a pos phone, just because you can't get one. The phone is great, but the invite system is a pos.

      • MSfan2

I felt the same way when I couldn't wait any longer and purchased a G2 off of Swapa. Then I received an invite and purchased the OnePlus anyway. Great phone... love it.

    • exadeci

You can try getting one here: http://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/26qfwe/new_way_for_us_redditors_to_share_invites_with/
Or wait for a mail, I go one the other day and I should receive the phone in a few days (my invitations are already reserved)

      • Rami

Kendall is being sarcastic: the update is rolling out slow, same as the phone itself :)

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

You do if you're the 90%, and I just invited you. Bam.

      • tintin.92

Don't suppose you have another one?

        • Guest

Wait, the update is invite only?

      • Jeff Uberstine

Wait, the update is invite only??

        • tintin.92

Nah man, they're talking about the phone, which is still invite only.

        • Peter Hansen

Sarcasm is lost on some people.

    "July OTA Update"

    *Looks at calendar*

    It's August 11.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

It had to go through QA and Google certification process which delayed it by several weeks.

    • Will Tisdale

They were probably too busy fixing the bugs that they realised they were introducing in the update. It is CM after all...not exactly a reputation for high quality stable releases...

      • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Because maintaining 80+ devices or however many they have now is a piece of cake, right?

        • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

Yes, when each device is maintained by a specific person, not the whole team at once for every device

          • Will Tisdale

Exactly. And a lot of the devices / kernels have been unified, so the builds are either identical or very similar to each other.

It's the core system and framework where most of the issues come from, not the hardware support generally.

        • Will Tisdale

The problem is the lack of quality in the code that they let in, as well as insufficient testing of new stuff and the obsession with having lots of features.

Which is also why it takes them so long to release anything remotely usable after an Android source code drop.

But feel free to keep the blinkers on and keep on apologising for them every chance you get. ;)

          • bhake

Explain how you have helped clean up the "lack of quality code" that you know so much about? Oh, that's right Samsung, HTC, LG, all get it right the first time and never issue an OTA after a launch of a new product. Yep, it sounds like you speak from experience.

          • Will Tisdale

I'm not talking specifically about this product, as is clear from my comments, and yes, I do speak from experience.

CM is a moving target - it's basically never 'stable' - which is why the old stable releases were dumped, because it was physically impossible to get to that state.

And why I would want to spend time cleaning up code for features I wouldn't use anyway is beyond me? Reverting or rebasing out all the crap would be the easiest way to get rid of the bugs - that or not accepting it in Gerrit in the first place.

          • Ted

you clearly misunderstood what is new about 11S

          • CJ Jacobs

You need not defend yourself to apologists. CM is 50% garbage, 30% trash, and 20% rubbish. A look through the OnePlus forums tells anyone looking to buy this phone all they need to know; the software on this phone is not ready for primetime. All software has bugs. But the quantity and nature of the bugs in CM 11S is ridiculous. People are paying their hard earned money for this phone and deserve better than the half backed BS that comes installed on it. My son and I both have the One and the issues with the phone started at 1st boot. He can't encrypt his phone, unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery, root it, the Wi-Fi turns itself on at will, it randomly forces him to go through the setup process again and again, the call volume is low, the screen is yellow at the bottom, etc., etc. There's a definite lack of quality assurance testing going on with the software. I'm lucky that my only issue is that I have the low earpiece volume and screen rotation doesn't work quite often. Dealing with their support team is a lesson in hurry up and wait as they go silent for days at a time. All in all I wouldn't recommend this phone anyone since you can easily get a phone that is just as good from vendors that will stand by their product if there's an issue. And lets face it, aside from cost, the OnePlus One isn't any better than the GS 5, G3, or Z2.

      • DirkBelig

How much are you paying for CM?

        Then STFU.

        • Will Tisdale

          That's a very reasoned adult response...congratulations.

Who cares what people are 'paying' for it, or not, as the case may be - and besides, cost isn't relevant.

CM like to think they are the big boys of the custom Android ROM scene - they've even gone so far as to try to make money from it.

They are open to scrutiny and criticism for their practices, so you STFU.

          • DirkBelig

Spare me your lazy entitlement, jerkface. "CM owes me perfection and me and my neckbeard are going to sit here poopsocking until they deliver it, by Grabthar's Hammer!!!"

          • Will Tisdale

No they don't owe me anything - that's not what I'm saying, in the slightest.

But if they are going to bother to ship a product, they should concentrate on the basics first. It's good *business* sense, as well as a courtesy to their users.

You don't honestly believe they do it all out of the goodness of their hearts? Lol.

          • Will Tisdale

Oh, and yeah, if you're gonna troll, pick your targets wisely. ;)

        • runderekrun

I actually paid 360 dollars for CM 11S.

          • dude

I'm grateful for CM that I got for free for more than a dozen of Android phones I used in the past. So I don't mind giving them some money this time.

  • remister

I just ordered the phone on Friday. Glad to see there is an update awaiting for me when I get it :) Lucky I am very close to their City of Industry shipping center!

  • Artyom Starostin

@Artem Russakovskii Will that post update with OTA links?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

If we find them, sure. I'm after one myself.

      • jonathan3579

For those of us who haven't rooted the phone, I'm guessing waiting is the only other option aside from ADB sideloading? I'm not very familiar with Windows 8.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      Just did.

  • Tony Byatt

Right on time for my OPO being delivered today...

  • One Minus One

Omg... Reminds me of my Android Cupcake HTC Hero...which couldn't do screen touches properly. What a joke this one plus is!

    • Francisco Franco

What is a joke is you talking about something you have absolutely no clue about.

  • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

OTA zip is now up for anyone who wishes to flash manually!

    • Rigoberto Cabrera

Absolutely needs custom recovery? Won't sideload with stock CM Recovery?

      • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Oh, actually, it might, since it's signed. I installed TWRP so I could root a long time ago.

        • Rigoberto Cabrera

Thanks, Worked just like on my Nexus 7! Cheers!

        • bhake

Disregard. Issues on my end apparently.

    • jstnbsn

i'm getting an error on the download both downloading on the phone and from the computer when i try and flash it using twrp :/

      • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

        What's the error?

        • jstnbsn

it's failing the verification check. i've tried flashing from storage/sideloading, both recoveries. i had previously wiped and reflashed the update zip from the cyngn.com site but that should still be fine as far as i know.

          • Jonathan McKenzie

is it a status 7 error because im getting the same thing, I did the same thing less than a week ago. Im stock tho non rooted stock recovery

          • jstnbsn

i ended up just restoring to stock via fastboot images and now it's working.

        • jstnbsn

          "assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/framework/apache-xml.jar".......

          • Justin Crowley

same error as me. i just factory reset, installed OS directly from Cyanogen and tried to sideload, same issue

          • boeselhack

            same error here :(

        • rickneworleansla

Same error here. Anyone know what is causing this yet?

    • MaxtheRipper

      What about gapps?

      • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Why would you need gapps? CM11S comes with them.

        • MaxtheRipper

I mean the updated gapps. The changelog states, that gapps are updated, but playstore is still the old version 4.8.20

          • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Oh, I don't know, maybe they didn't update all of them.

  • Mark

So now the model number changes to A0001 and 4g indicator is replaced by LTE

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Noticed the model number change. And oh, nice! It's been bothering me that LTE has been showing as 4G.

  • Matt Goldey

Can this not be flashed using "adb sideload" and the stock recovery?

    • Xen Tepo

I downloaded the zip file and flashed it using stock recovery. No issues.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

It can be. I forgot all about the stock recovery as I was using TWRP. The instructions have been updated.

  • Edward Smith

I'm assuming this does not touch the internal memory, correct?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

You mean your data? It'll be fine, it doesn't wipe.

  • Nick

Just flashed on my 1+1. I started the process and as soon as I pressed Install, I realized that I forgot to "uninstall" xposed. But I guess it doesn't matter on the OPO? Weird. Normally it'll fail because the system partition is modified. Oh well, Updated. Time to test a little

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Perhaps the file Xposed updates wasn't touched by the OTA and therefore it didn't fail any checks.

  • Ahmad El-Ibrahim

Hmmm, it fails to adb sideload with me and I am using twrp
Edit: it does send to device, but fails to complete

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      Fails how?

      • JerrAH Nacovsky

fails for me as well i get this error error executing updater binary in zip '/data/media/0/sideload.zip' it sideloads but doesnt complete

        • kitset

did you sort this out? I get the same error when sideloading. Flashing via twrp didn't work either. I had applied a fix for the low mic volume issue, so I wonder if that was the problem?

          • AndroidConvert

Had a similar issue and used a solution provided later in the thread and I was able to install the OTA straight from my phone.
            jkfoong • 4 days ago

For those having "assert failed: apply_patch_check", download the factory image from CM website, extract the system.img file from the factory image, then use adb fastboot to flash with commands "fastboot flash system system.img" and now you can flash the OTA zip.

      • Ahmad El-Ibrahim

I see that my error is system UI.apk so I'm going over my device cleaning what I think is the problem

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

SystemUI... did you install Xposed? Or something else that modified it?

          • Ahmad El-Ibrahim

            I did install Xposed

          • Ahmad El-Ibrahim

Which I did unwrite so I'm guessing I have done something else too. Going over, quick question I'm guessing it is SoftkeyZ and it looks like I've lost backup.

          • Gregory Cabral

Hey, were you able to install the update? Im getting the same SystemUI.apk error. I uninstalled xposed and softkey Z, but still cant get it working

          • AndroidConvert

Had a similar issue and used a solution provided later in the thread and I was able to install the OTA straight from my phone.

  • Olaf

Somebody can make me a tutorial for TWRP???

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

In TWRP, adb sideload by going to Advanced. You may need to update the OPO device drivers so it shows up when you run "adb devices" first though.

  • BrosemiteSam

Tried both sideloading and flashing and it's giving me an error and won't complete.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      What is the error?

      • bhake

I got an error due to mixer_paths.xml. I was messing with that audio volumes for phone calls a couple weeks ago. I tried reverting to the backup file from stock. But still getting same error via sideload stock recovery and installing from internal folder. So not sure why I keep getting that error. Any ideas?

        • JerrAH Nacovsky

yea just figured out that was my error to, i flashed the zips for stock but still get error

        • Dzhedaj

Flash the system.img via fastboot. You won't loose settings, apps, etc. as they're on a different partition.
That will make sure you've got all the right files in you system to be able to sideload.

    • BrosemiteSam

My error was from having used the smoothscroll mod that modified framework.jar. I replaced it with the stock framework.jar using root explorer, redid permissions, and after that process the update worked fine.

  • Justin Crowley

TWRP states there is an Error executing updater binary
    thoughts?
I have never flashed using adb sideload before

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

That's odd, I applied in TWRP, and everything was fine. Did you check the MD5 on the file?

      • Justin Crowley

        ya MD5 is the same

      • Ryan

I'm also having this issue. I did check the MD5 before running adb sideload via TWRP.

        assert failed: apply_patch_check

E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/data/media/0/sideload.zip'

        • Alexander Z Great

          Same issue..

      • Ryan

I think I found my issue, and I just facepalmed.

I had restored to a TWRP backup I made when the phone was brand new, then did a factory reset so I could apply this zip cleanly. Unfortunately that backup image didn't have the previous incremental update (XNPH25R). Derp! No wonder the patch-check failed.

Booted up the phone, applied the XNPH25R update that was waiting, THEN did the adb sideload without issue.

    • simoscorpion

      same for me

    • Phil Plückthun

Have you changed any system files? Revert your changes and try again.

    • Bruce

can you use otg cable and load update on sd card and flash using twrp?

    • BCD tech

I am also getting same error 7

  • Rami

So, I went ahead, did a backup of my current setup, and did an in-place sideload (with twrp) on my current rooted and xposed device, it finished, booted and upgraded Android packages.

Things seems OK, did not lose apps or settings, Root was lost, but SuperSU immediately reported it was missing and offered to install it via TWRP, which it did successully. then xposed said the app_process is not installed, and installed it and everything worked as before.

No crashes so far... hope will never need to do a full cleanup now, at least until a complete factory images are out.

  • Renan Lazarotto

Completely off topic: what are the diferences between 4G and LTE?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

The difference in this case was that on LTE, we're used to see "LTE" being displayed, not 4G. Carriers have notoriously used "4G" for HSPA+, at least in the US.

      • Renan Lazarotto

this is quite confusing for me. Here in Brazil, 4G is... well 4G. We have no other designation for it. I honestly don't know what differs between 4G, LTE and HSPA+. For me it was always 2G, 3G, 3.5G and 4G. Sometimes my phones would show me E/H and H+, and I still don't know what they meant.

  • master94

About time. My torch keeps turning on killing my battery by a hour or two

  • JerrAH Nacovsky

https://www.dropbox.com/s/v1392w6mrt27ko4/mixer_paths.xml stock mixer path replace old one reboot then boot back in to twrp and sideload works perfect. this is for people with the mixer_path error who modified the the mixer so it was louder.

    • rickneworleansla

Tried this but only got audio fx popup error over and over.

      • JerrAH Nacovsky

You need to make sure you change the permissions and mount it I use paid version of root explorer

  • Nathan

I would like to upgrade to this phone from my Nexus 4. But I don't know how to get an invite.

    • x

I know who you are. Lol.

      • x

Hmm you might be someone else..never mind.

  • Dzhedaj

Thanks guys for posting the zip package. Worked perfectly via adb sideload.

  • https://twitter.com/branaja Branimir

    another update: 60FPS slow-motion in full HD (1080p) ;)

    https://twitter.com/branaja/status/498935691213303808

    • JerrAH Nacovsky

      thats always been an option.

      • https://twitter.com/branaja Branimir

        my bad then!
I know 120FPS full HD was not an option (and you could choose it in settings, but would give you error toast-notification)

    Thank you!

    I get an error saying:

    assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/framework/apache-xml.jar")
    &
Error executing updater binary in zip '/data/media/0/sideload.zip'

    • Eli Burns-Irvin

Same with me. What recovery are you on?

      • Joey

        TWRP

    • rickneworleansla

Same here. Did you previously modify your mixer_paths.xml file to fix the Google Now or low speakerphone volume issue?

      • Amit

yes i did.. so how do i fix that?

        • rickneworleansla

I tried all the fixes and nothing worked. There is a zip on xda that bypasses the check but I wanted to permanently correct any changes. The only solution I found was to reflash the system image. That allowed the update to work. Then I decided I wanted to go completely back to stock so I went to fastboot and flashed all the image files. Theres a tutorial on xda that can help you out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541

    • http://sridharkatakam.com/ Sridhar Katakam

Same error. Tried both flashing and sideloading. Using TWRP.

  • Jure Frančeškin

Great, AP caught this OTA. Thanks.

  • rslh

I decided not to root my phone this time. I downloaded the zip file to my Download folder, went into Recovery mode and flashed the file. EZPZ. Working nicely.

  • OnePlusOneMan

Anyone else having an issue with setting a custom lockscreen wallpaper? It just keeps whatever the normal wallpaper is and doesn't change.

  • http://www.volkswagen.de/ Quailallstar

Do we have to sideload via ADB or can we just flash the update through TWRP?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      You can flash via TWRP.

      • http://www.volkswagen.de/ Quailallstar

Doesn't work with the downloaded file via TWRP. I also tried adb side loading but having driver issues with windows 8.1 not recognizing the One.

  • Marvels

I do not understand this cry for invitations, buy the Chinese version, works perfectly. Only if you're from the USA that 4G does not work, but the rest of the world. I have the Chinese version and it works like the original. Thanks for android Police file. Worked perfectly here.

    • Guest

We're not supporting a company that doesn't respect their potential customers.

      • Marvels

at that point, I agree with you. It seems like that is not about to win the customer, if it continues they will start losing customers, because other phones are close to being cast as x + 1 and nexus 6

  • Bruce

all you need is a otg cable, load update onto sd card and flash using twrp, just select otg memory,no need for all the adb stuff,my motto, keep it simple,i just finished and i took less than 5 minutes.

  • adampristel

there is another one on top of the update this article is talking about... http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/30o-incremental-ota-one-todays-larger-t2845203

  • bunnybash

WTF happened to the new dialer? That looks horrible!!! Does anyone else have the buttons down below that terrible blue colour?

    • adampristel

Mine isn't fugly blue like that

      • bunnybash

yeah... i suspect something has happened in xposed or something... not sure... have to investigate, cause it looks terrible right now!!

        • Rami

Have you installed a custom Theme? check the settings and revert to stock Hexa theme.

          • bunnybash

Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah I had to wipe the cache and dalvik cache 3 times from TWRP before it returned to normal... along the way I found a sweet theme though!! :)

  • LivinInDC

Is this download for the 16GB version or the 64GB version? Because I'm on the 64GB version and it doesn't install.

    • bunnybash

It worked for me on the 64GB version. Have you uninstalled xposed etc?

  • Rami

And now there is a patch for the update:

    Filename: cm-bacon-0428073396-to-4f280f505a-signed.zip
    MD5: 05ca218f9afae3f5ad04efcd79258855
Description: This Android 4.4.4 update includes new functionality and provides improvements for call quality and audio.

  • jkfoong

For those having "assert failed: apply_patch_check", download the factory image from CM website, extract the system.img file from the factory image, then use adb fastboot to flash with commands "fastboot flash system system.img" and now you can flash the OTA zip.

    • rickneworleansla

I may have to try this. Everything else I have tried from xda and the oneplus forums has failed.

    • AndroidConvert

      Hey JKFoong,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Turns out the OTA wasn't working on my phone because I had updated my mixer_path.xml (to fix the call volume issue) and changed my dpi in the build.prop file. These updated my system folder, so that was preventing a couple of the scripts in their OTA from running.

Once I flashed the system folder back to the factory system folder, the OTA installed flawlessly straight from my phone.

Again - thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Wishing you good karma my friend.

  • Saleh Bujra

I was getting the "assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/framework/apache-xml.jar") &

Error executing updater binary in zip '/data/media/0/sideload.zip" errors, then I tried a fix (https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/sideloading-new-update-error.84096/) from the OP forums.

Download this file (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzgUrWZ7XZ0rblFERndPaENKTm8/edit), replace the folder in the update zip with the newly downloaded folder, then sideload the update. Worked like a charm for me.

    • Jonathan Hassler

      Links don't work

    • Francisco Franco

Because you changed system files... it's not magic.

  • Evan Wickes

I think there is a new radio also.. Thought I noticed in the script while flashing

  • nomadism

Does anyone know why the model name has changed to A0001?

    • Ionut Costica

I think it was because of the delay customs agents in the EU (or whoever) made happen (I think the box says model A0001 and the about page was "One", so they didn't like it)

  • cdrom1028

whats the point of even talking about a device no one can buy?

  • Peter Hansen

Quote: "The model number is now being reported as A0001 for some reason."

The reason they changed the model name from One to A0001 is in CM is this:
    https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/weekly-update-34-developers-developers-developers.81907/
Quote: "Because our phones are labeled as A0001 on the box and the model number
appears as One in CyanogenMod, we ran into issues with customs last
week. The discrepancy caused a delay of roughly 2 to 3 days for
shipments going to Europe and North America. However, we have since
resolved the issue, and things are back on track."
