Asus is still releasing Transformer tablets on a regular basis, but most of them are mid-range. The premium device in the Transformer family is still the TF701T, and it's getting an update to Android 4.4.2 right now. The OTA is happening, but it looks like a slow staged rollout.

Asus has kept up with the TF701T fairly well. It's running a few months behind the curve (Android 4.3 was in December), but at least it's still getting OTAs. We have at least one confirmed report of an OTA, but our unit hasn't been updated yet.

The update files have been posted on the Asus website if you don't want to wait. There are multiple SKUs, so you have to be sure to download the right one (each is about 1GB). Past devices have required you to put that update ZIP on an SD card and load it into the tablet to trigger the normal update process. That should still work, but the lack of documentation makes this a "proceed at your own risk" scenario. It might reset the tablet, even though past devices didn't do that.

[Asus – Thanks, Andrew]

What the hell? Is it Christmas? Asus updated the device?

    • hkklife

Remember how phenomenal Asus was with updating the original TF101 a few years ago? Those days are ancient history now...

Can I update my rooted device?
And will I be able to re-root or I'll have to wait for another rooting method?

    • mrjayviper

doubt you can update a rooted device. and you will probably have to wait for another rooting method.

Confirmed, got the update last night.

Now how about the memo pad 7 HD?

    • DavidW

I'm not sure about the 7 but I know the Memo Pad 10 HD was updated about 3 months after the Transformer last time.

I really want to see a new high end Android-based Transformer. I mean, I want Galaxy Tab S-equivalent or beating specs with the keyboard dock included AND the ability to charge via microUSB (like the latest midrange Android TF and the Windows ones) as well as via Qi. That would be an awesome device indeed.

There is a keyboard case for the tab s. It's not the same as a transformer but at least it's something and looks good.
I wish a high end transformer was released.

Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, goο»Ώ to tech tab for work detail

  • psychotropy101

Aaand still waiting for an update on the nightmarish TF201...-_-....

    • http://about.me/tysonayoung Tyson Young

not gonna happen. Crombi-KK does a good job and has F2FS to help out with horrible IO. I myself have the TF201 and have learned that Auto update is your enemy and ROW kernels are going to get you just that much more out of the cruddy IO.

Did they remove the floating widgets?
