Google has certainly been busy today with all sorts of Play Store improvements, and here's a new version of the Android client to top it all off. Version 4.8.19 has started rolling out to devices, and we've got the APK below for you to install on your own.

We're digging in to see what's new. We already knew about the PayPal and some UI tweaks, but it's looking like there's more going on.

Update 6/1/14: 4.8.20, a small bug fixer, has been released.

Update 7/15/14: 4.8.22, another bug fixer, was just released. You can find updated download links at the bottom of this post.

What's New?

This is a pretty big update to the Play Store app in terms of UI and features. We'll be updating as we go along here, so check back.

New Headers

Googler Kirill Grouchnikov posted a preview of the new header images and action bar area in the Play Store video/book sections. There's more transparency, which interferes with the hero image less. That's in this version of the Play Store, but only in the specified areas. The action bar fades in as you slide down, which is a neat effect. The search button in the action bar has also switched places with share – it's always on the far right now (you'll see that throughout the comparison screens).

Update: Here are some animated GIFs we've created that we know you love:

One more tweak to the headers can be seen when posting a review. The old boring box to type your rantings is gone, replaced with a slick new version using a round avatar and colorful background. Oh, and 'excellent' for five stars is now 'loved it' for whatever reason.

That's as far as the transparency goes with the new headers. Kirill responded to a question about transparent nav and status bars, as well as immersive mode. The two get confused a lot, but you should just go through the thread. Lots of armchair UI designers in there.

New Additional Information Section

Down at the bottom of app listings in the Play Store, there is a new Additional Information section. This lists the latest app version, installed size, content rating, and has a link for permissions (discussed below). Some of this info was in the description, but you had to expand that section to see it. It's much easier to see this way.

Simplified Permission Lists

When you're installing an app, the permission list is now collapsed into categories like location, WiFi, and camera/microphone. You can tap on any of them to see the expanded permissions. The descriptions are also a bit more clear. Down at the bottom in the aforementioned details section, there's a cool permissions link that pops up an overlay with all the permissions. So you no longer have to pretend to install an app just to see the permissions.

As of this update, the network communication permissions including the “full Internet access” permission have been removed from the primary list. The remaining network access permissions focus on specific access types that are more descriptive of what an app wants to do with your connection. The Play Store also decides which new permissions you need to be notified of upon updates by groups, not individual entries. Check the support page for a fuller explanation.

Big Buttons

One thing you'll notice throughout the new Play Store is that the scale of buttons has been tweaked. They're all larger and easier to hit now, which was long overdue.

Paypal Support

The PayPal support announced earlier today seems to be enabled by this update, but it's not showing up for everyone yet. Almost all of us are seeing the PayPal button at the bottom of the payment methods screen when buying content in the new Play Store client.

Odds And Ends

A few other small things here.

  • The Redeem option now looks like the Settings button in the slide-out navigation bar rather than the primary navigation item.

i miss that as well. I find it very tedious to remove each individual app, instead of a group remove.

      • Guest

        delete

      • n_a_v

long press an app that you want to delete, let go, then you'll be able to select other apps to delete at once

I can select multiples, but only batch in stall, not remove them from my list.

        • Nomaan

that was in old version I guess

          • n_a_v

dang you're right. glad i cleaned up my list before google removed such a useful feature

      • jonathan3579

I noticed this same thing the other day. Honestly, I thought I was going bat shit crazy but I guess it indeed was removed.

    • firesoul453

I use a 3rd part app now to do it.

      • Luqmaan Mathee

        Which app?

        • firesoul453

I hope I didn't misslead you guys. The app lets you check all the apps you want to uninstall but you still have to go through and click the uninstall buttons one at a time (it pops them up as you uninstall apps). So its still a lot easier than one at a time manually

ES file explorer can do it.

          But I've used
          System app uninstaller
          by LJMOBILE

          It works great

      • Fatty Bunter

for the love of god, which app man?

        • firesoul453

          Above I recommended

          System app uninstaller
          by LJMOBILE

          But actually

          System app remover (ROOT)
          by JUMOBILE

Works perfectly without the manual clicking the uninstall button. It just has a tons of ads (and you need root).

  • Baspower

Those headers would look great with a transparent notification bar...

      status*, but yeah, it would

    • Jens Knutson

Apparently they thought that doing so made the transition between screens with the transparent action bars and those without too jarring.

      • Ashhar Ahmar Khan

        U got that update??

    • Tomáš Petrík

I actually prefer the colored headers from earlier versions.

      • mikeym0p

When you scroll down they have the header, a la' Google Music

    • KrispyInTO

Shuttle music player has that and it looks great

    • mikeym0p

I think it would be too much. I looks good, but not in the contexts Google uses.

    • srN

Some apps on my galaxy s4 paint the notification bar with the same color of the header, it looks awesome :D they show implement that :D

    • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

Only if it matches the action bar color

  • steelew

Finally there is a place for app version number and it needs a line for currently installed version vs new app version. Also Needs remove multiple apps feature. The buttons for open and uninstall are bigger now too, would be perfect if they were side by side again...and big.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Definitely happy about that. No longer need to expand description to see it.

    • mikeym0p

You can remove multiple apps from the 'My Apps' screen. Long press an installed app from the all apps tab and it'll give you an option to batch uninstall.

      • steelew

I don't know what version you are using but I just tried it and that does not work. It only gives you the option to INSTALL multiple apps on the ALL tab.

  • David Peterson

Love the new permission look and the bigger buttons

Also love that IFTTT sends me a notification right away!

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Yeah, definitely easier to tap with fat, or even skinny, fingers.

      • David Peterson

Woah. Artem replied to my comment. I finally made it!

My Mom is going to be so proud!

      • siddude11

        Totally working for me.

  • Connor

Not sure if this is new, but scrolling across the gallery on apps seems smoother and now snaps to images instead of it being a free scroll. If that makes sense.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      Nice spot @Connor:disqus.

    • miri

That's been the case since the Android Market days.

So THAT'S how the TV section of Google Play Movies & TV looks! I envy that so much, I want it so incredibly much! Huge TV freak here, and I would dive all in with hundreds of dollars for my TV shows to be available through Google Play Movies & TV. Damn licensing :( I can only hope they will sometime make it available for Norwegian users.

Check the warning to download the "newer" (4.6.16) version, please.

A tag was missing that takes care of automating that bit. Should be fixed.

  • BoFiS

Still totally weird that they place the Update and Uninstall buttons on top of each other rather than side by side like they were for years. Makes for much larger, easier targets when they are side by sides instead of vertical.

    • Nathan Walters

The larger touch targets probably means that there wasn't enough horizontal room on smaller devices.

Here's a comment on the lack of immersive mode from Kirill Grouchnikov, a Google engineer working on the Play Store:

I don't think that immersive mode would necessarily work for something like browsing, searching and buying stuff in the store. It's not like you're spending time on the same canvas like in books, newsstand or even maps. But I'll leave that to our designers.

    https://plus.google.com/u/0/+KirillGrouchnikov/posts/Keu1uqUwHjo

    • Connor

I don't think that there would be a need for translucent nav bar, but the translucent status bar should be added for the places such as movies now, but not elsewhere for colouring.

      • miri

I'm largely indifferent. It'd look nice but when used in that way, it's purely an aesthetic feature and can cause unnecessary design and engineering complications. Bleeding app content (emphasis on content) into system bars should be the exception, not the rule.

    • Seth Merritt

Noticed he said Maps for immersive mode. That would look awesome.

      • andy_o

I know a lot of people seem to want this, but don't you look at the clock and notifications at a glance when navigating? Would you like to swipe down just to see the notifications? My car doesn't have a clock so I depend on that clock, but I imagine it would get annoying quick if you wanted to do anything else on the phone (like control the music) and had to swipe down twice to reveal the actionable notification controls.

        • Crispin Swickard

It would also be nice to have as much screen real estate as possible on nav as possible. I think Maps would at least benefit with the Translucent nav/notification if not immersive mode. They could always have an option to have it one way, or the other like some third party (maybe even the rare Google App, or 2) that allow for immersive mode.

          • andy_o

Transparent bars I'd be OK with, but what I'm afraid is that if they do immersive mode, they won't make it an option, since not having options appears to be Google's thing nowadays in their apps. I'd assume "toggle immersive mode" would be way down the list after "always avoid tolls".

EDIT: Oh, I just realized that maybe most of you guys are using their phone in landscape, in that case the layout sucks, I think more could be improved by improving the layout itself than going into immersive mode.

          • Crispin Swickard

I wouldn't see the need either in portrait, but in landscape it looks kind of claustrophobic. It would be great to have options, but they are very sadly lacking indeed. :(

          • pfmiller

When viewing a map, the transparent bars would let you see more of the map, but in navigation how would it help? At the top and bottom of the navigation screen are the apps own bars. It wouldn't be any benefit to extend those bars into the system bars, and that's all they could do.

          • Crispin Swickard

Since I have not seen any app that utilized the translucent its not likely. I realize they wouldn't be able to get any extra functionality of of the areas, but at least the map would be larger, and like I said the main goal would to make it look less claustrophobic. I would ultimately prefer immersive mode for it, and they could even fit a bit more information on the screen.

          • pfmiller

Like I said, yes the translucent bars would provide more viewable aread for the regular maps, but would be useless in Navigation.

And I think immersive mode would be terrible for either. That should only be for games and video players, making multitasking more difficult in any other situation would be a huge annoyance.

          • Crispin Swickard

Normally when using it for a car GPS solution multitasking would not tend to be happening, or should not be happening while driving. ;) As I mentioned on the last map update post I think optimally it should give a choice for users to decide on how it would display.

          • pfmiller

Multitasking probably shouldn't be happening, but realistically I'm going to want to skip a track every so often.

  • Dennis Ulijn

Is it me imagining things but is the animation when updating apps new? When an app is updated it slides to the recently updated apps.

    • miri

      Been there since.

      • Arthur Dent

        Since ....... what?

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

I think the last update, or the one before it.

    • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

It's been like that since 4.6.17

  • PewPewDie

Not to nitpick but stars have been colour coded to each section of the Play Store for at least several months now. Nevertheless great write up Ryan :)

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

You're correct. Took that out. Also [reluctantly] fixed the "rantings" typo. I think rantings should be a word now.

  • roberto.elena

In order to add Paypal payment option you have to input your Paypal password INSIDE Google Play Store app? How does this make sense from a security point of view?

  • Christopher Heuer

Guess it was too much to hope they'd fix the Tablet UI. Couldn't they just make the right-hand pane show the exact same thing that you see on the phone? Or get rid of the two-pane layout and show the exact same as on a phone? Either would be a huge improvement over this.

    • duse

Google doesn't give a shit about full-size tablets anymore. If it looks good enough on phone and Nexus 7 (bigger phone) then they're satisfied.

      • jonathan3579

Well they resorted to a phone(ish) layout so they might as well just continue the trend in the Play Store.

    • Crafty

Did you know if you press the large empty gray area in between the app's big icon and the open and uninstall button, it takes you to the screen you want? Found this by accident a while back.

You probably already knew. I do wish they'd default to that screen in the tablet layout.

      • Christopher Heuer

Yeah, it's just super annoying that you have to tap the app on the left and then tap it again on the right to see the details about it.

      • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

It should not be like that and just show everything at once, let alone no swipe to change the tabs and screen waste (Google really does not like the Nexus 10)

      • brkshr

Did not know that, so thank you! I always just turned my tablet to portrait, then selected the app again.

      • philnolan3d

It's not just the grey area, it's anywhere in that whole rectangle, including the icon and the text, in fact the whole thing gets highlighted when you tap it.

    • philnolan3d

I think it's better with 2 panes. It makes it faster when you want to update individual apps or looks at basic info before updating.

  • matt73300

That's an interesting update, but I still hope they'll rework the update process. Staging rollout actually sucks, we often have to wait a few days to get app updates after announcement.. :(

    • Nathan Walters

No you don't. Just download and install the APK.

      • matt73300

I was not saying this for Play Store updates particularly, but for all app updates.. :)

        • miri

As I always say, staged rollouts are great for everyone but the impatient. A better solution would be to just delay the announcement until the rollout's been going for a little while.

  • Arthur Dent

Interesting, if a little off topic... downloaded the APK and installed it, everything went fine. Went to My Apps and saw an update for Groove IP. Release notes: "Replace Google Voice with new service"

Apparently today's the day for the 3rd party cutoff. Will this do anything to further Google Voice integration with Hangouts?

    • kirk

      That's good to hear, I think. I'm a heavy groovip/google voice user.

If I port my Google Voice number to Ring.to, will my Google Voice service not work anymore on that number?

      Where's the Hangouts update, Googlers?

  • miri

Missed something: Redeem was taken out of primary navigation (didn't belong there anyway) and grouped with settings, help, etc. Technically, it's in the same place, it's just be re-styled/de-emphasized and has a little gift icon now.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

We caught it, it just didn't make it to the first version of the post. It's there now.

  • Tony Byatt

Is the multi-select then delete option back in My Apps under ALL?

  • Stanley C.

Damn no paypl here in latin america... I need paypal to buy from Play Store. Im having problems with my credit card...

  • Peter

I'm in Aus so can't try it myself, but does the Paypal option work if you have 2-factor auth enabled on your Paypal account?

  • Deeco

Alright, think I discovered a bug: App review count seems to have doubled, (at least for my app).

  • The_Chlero

My only request is that Google man up and dictate some Play Store guidelines and force content developers to follow those guidelines.

First example is how lame is the Google Play Games Features support on games. Just a few games support it, and even then many just implement trophies, which is OK but there are much more features. Like Cloud Saving, MP support, Leaderboards, etc. Among the few games I have in my phone (Temple Run, AngryBirds SW, Where's my Water, Slice It!, Cut the Rope TT, Candy Crysh and Trivia Crack), only Cut the Rope support trophies, the others have their own achivements/leaderboards/rewards systems which from the player point of view and if you compare it to Game Central on iOS, gaming on Android devices is lackluster even worse if you compare it against my PS4 which have a powerful set of rules for trophies, but we are talking about a powerful gaming console here.

Other request is the vague description in apps on the Play Store or the lack of any changelog on it. Take for example Twitter app, since many months ago, the only changelog they place is "This update fix many bugfixes" and thats all. What the heck is that? I really want to know what has been changed and what new features, if any, are they deploying.

Developers go away with all of the above, because Google doesnt enforce them to follow any guidelines. I hope Google step up and finally dictate some rules

    • miri

It's not Google's place to enforce any of that and maybe it's just my taste in games, but of all the games I've bought recently, only two didn't have Play Games integration (and considering they don't have any achievement/ranking system at all, I could hardly expect them to).

      • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

Yes it is. Play is GOOGLE's store, THEY are the bosses there.

Apps should be kicked the fuck out until developers implement features properly - that includes both following the design guidelines and the full Play Games compatibility

        • Mike Reid

So... You want Google to curate more, and be like Apple ?

I'm OK with the "Wild West" style. If you don't like an app or dev, don't patronize them. Or at least give them a low rating and point out reasons in a review.

Consider that there are many independent devs out there, and many of us are super busy, and prefer to make our own priority lists. Customers can buy or not, nobody has a gun to their head.

          • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

Yes, this is one of the things Apple does right - enforces the dev to actualy follow the guidelines and implement system features like iCloud support and GameCenter compatibility - and not partial, but FULL compatibility which includes achievements, leaderboards, multiplayer, AND cloud saves

If you do not obey those rules - you can kiss the AppStore goodbye. This is where Google fails miserably - they opened the store and just don't give a shit about it, because there's no fucking proper moderation, and I assure you that 80% of the apps and games that are present in the Play Store are crap, malware, copies with misleading titiles, or something else

  • Matteo Regoli

Thanks for the update, many good news in that. But why can't I update Google Play Store any more clicking "Build version" in "Preferences"? Did they ditch that way?

    • Bojan Tomic

It's slowly rolling out in phases, so who knows when it'll hit your phone. :)

      • Matteo Regoli

So the "Build version" button trick actually work for the latest Google Play Store version you're "allowed" to get only? Didn't it just leverage the latest version released from Google?

    • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

Because Google, some things works, others don't

  • Pootis Man

    Finally PayPal support!

Should they include Paypal, it may be a sign that Google Wallet does not succeed quite well? Would have been smarter if they expanded the wallet service such as Paypal and begin to compete in all countries, now it looks more like them to lay down their own pay solutions let paypal take it over.

    • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

Wallet is a failure that nobody uses

  • ran

Is the APK compatible with android 4.4 ?

I have tried all four links but it does not download or says the package can't be parsed.

    • Crispin Swickard

Sure is. Works just fine on 4.4.2.

  • Crafty

Is it a coincidence that the version of the Google Play Store is ratcheting up closer to 5.0? I know the versions aren't exactly in line with the current version of Android, but it's interesting.

Yeah. Obviously I'm trying to imply it means Android 5.0 could be the next version we see, but it's probably just wishful thinking.

    • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

I think at this point we all know that 5.0 is coming

  • Le Wang

    big button is really nice

  • Alex James Simon

Why won't it allow me to log in to paypal, I have money from the locket app I'd like to use, but it keeps saying "something went wrong, because the payment method on paypal is invalid" is it because I don't have a credit card on paypal? I shouldn't need a credit card if I'm just using the balance I got from the locket app right?

    • http://www.techrodd.com/ Jento Pieters

I have exactly the same problem.

  • Damian

Where is that shadow under the action bar? Now it looks really bad. First they have removed a feature that would allow to remove multiple apps by selecting them and tapping one button, now they did this.

  • mma173

Who decided that Update button should be next to Uninstall?!

    • Damian

      Wasn't that from the beginning?

      • mma173

Yes, it's a bad design that needs to be fixed.

        • Gary Wilkinson

I see your point but I can't say I've ever been affected by it.

  • hp420

That additional information section is sweet!!! I've always hated that you have to click description, then scroll all the way to the bottom of the section just to see the version number and update date. Nice job, google....this and the larger buttons are about damn time....it should have been done way back in the donut update, IMHO

  • Harsha

    Big *Butt*

One thing you'll notice throughout the new Play Store is that the scale of *butt* has been tweaked. They're all larger and easier to hit now, which was long overdue.

    For reference: https://twitter.com/AndroidPolice/status/467091116211601408 😀

  • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

Can't say I am digging the new review window, but everything else is rather awesome.

My only complaints are the lack of batch delete and they should have also made the buttons for content categories bigger on the main page

That, and I think that app version should be somewhere on too rather than on the very bottom of the info page

    • Slosh

batch update would be nice also :|

      • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

Uh, it has been there forever, in the "Installed" tab. The "update all" button

  • twowheeler

quick question: I installed the apk. Will i still recieve an update if google pushes out another new version of the play store?

      Yes, obviously.

  • Voi

Wasn't it supposed to be possible to force update play store with 4.6.xx by tapping on build version in settings? It says up to date for me.

    • Damian

Exactly, now it seems like next useless option.

    • ddpacino

I don't think it forces. It just goes to check for a possible update like the Update option in the settings of OS updates, which, too, will tell you "up-to-date" if the update isn't available to you yet.

    • Christopher Mason

Yep. Just tried it, doesn't work.

  • Peter

Greeeaaat... let me know when add any kind of decent sorting/filtering options.

  • Roger Siegenthaler

So 1/2 a MB just for Paypal code?, I highly doubt those slight styling changes have made any code-size differences... /me waits patiently for the teardown :D

  • http://mobers.org/ psydex

I've installed this version but i don't get the paypal option!?

    • Damian

Because only a few countries have got access.

  • Matt Dowdy

Biggest improvement for me is the latest update date being back at the top rather than down the bottom of the description, easier to see when an app you're keeping an eye on but haven't got installed may have been improved

    • ddpacino

Seems to be in both areas. The top shows a date of the last update. Down in the new Addition Info area, it tells you the latest version and the date it was released, along wize size, rating, and permissions link.

  • Tom

Am I the only one who thinks the enlarged buttons look a bit clumsy on a 5" phone..?

    • ddpacino

They seem fine to me. More appealing actually. I can understand having a bigger target to press, but that was never an issue for me.

  • Marcelove

Google dropped the ball at this new update... There's no reason to remove the "Full Network Acess" from permission list...

I'm saying that cause this permission always showed me before installing a new app if it has some kind of ad network bundled inside it... Specially if the app doesn't need Internet access to work... For example, a calculator app... If I see one and decide to install it to test, but at permissions I see that it need full network access, I know beforehand that it has advertising...

Now I can't know that unless I install the program and run it... I don't accept install apps that had advertising, and I only download apps that are ad free (free or paid apps)... For example, I'm sticking with old versions of Google Apps ( Maps, Gmail, Keep, etc) cause the new versions all have Admob inside...

    • Adam

I would have to agree with this. I know that I can go view the full list of permissions at the bottom, but that is a real PITA.

Also, clicking on the permissions no longer gives a long description of what that permission is doing (or what kind of damage it could cause should the dev use it maliciously). I know what they all are, but for people still new to Android (yes, Google, not everyone knows every aspect of Android yet), some of these can still get a bit confusing.

Why did they put a manual update button if it still susceptible to staged roll outs? It's like checking for system updates all over again (which I dont do).

  • Dan

Just downloaded and installed the update. When launching the store all I see now is a loading spinner. Anyone else got this and found a solution other than to revert the update?

    • Christine

I'm also having this exact same problem for at least an hour.

Why is Android saying it is not an unknown manufacturer when I'm trying to open the download link? Shouldn't it be recognized ?

  • Android Developer

Help, ever since I installed the new version, it crashes each time I run it.
    I've tried :
1.clean data of play store , play store services, downloads, downloads manager.

2.full wipe& flash of the gapps (either of CM or PA).

    3. full wipe & flash of other roms : Omni, CM, ...

Nothing works. It just shows the license agreement, and when I click on "accept" it just crashes with the dialog "unfortunately google play store has stopped" .

It might work for one time when I first open it, but later it will always crash.

Why does it happen? How can I fix it?

  • Nekrozys

    Motherfucking Paypal support ! o/

  • Niels

This. Really frustrating when updating multiple apps. You've got to go to the complete permission list found on the bottom of each individual app activity. They could've given a green 'updated' indicator or something!

  • Conner

  • taz89

Haven't even got the 1st update let alone this big fix.

    • Simon Belmont

Same here. Nothing on any of my or my wife's devices.

I could sideload it, but I usually just let it update automatically. Oh well.

  • Martin

Looks better, but still ugly compared to iTunes (for me).

  • Dan Cruz

I have installed this and after reading over the commentes, I didn't find anybody talking about it, so it may be just me. On the new version all the icons and images that should have a transparent background such as the apps with an image that doesn't fill the whole square, and all the rest of the images with a transparent background are showing a black square behind. I tried deleting the app cache but it's still the same. Not sure if this there is somebody else experimenting this or anybody knows what is wrong with it.

    • Dan Cruz

Actually it's showing like that on my phone, but I just installed it on my tablet and it's displaying fine there. So I have no idea what can be wrong with my phone for it to show that way.

  • pyroguysf

I don't think all this is quite right. I have 4.6.17 on my Droid DNA which has had the simplified permissions and big buttons for at least a few weeks now. You guys don't even list 4.6.17 in your history. Not hating, just pointing out that some of these features seem to be in a version you guys missed.

  • NinoBr0wn

Simplified permissions is good n all, but I wish they would make a policy where developers would have to explain why permissions were added/changed with new updates. Some of them add permissions that are questionable, and you can't get an answer out of them.

  • Simon Belmont

Ha. I still didn't even get 4.8.19 on any of my devices (yes, I know I can sideload it, but I usually just let it auto-update).

It's too bad that clicking the version number in the Google Play Store settings doesn't force an update to the latest version. That would be ideal.

    • GiantJay

I haven't received either of these updates yet either on any of the three Android devices in my house.

      • trckstrntr

        same here..

  • RadarJammer

Today? I received .8.19 last Monday on most of my devices and was wondering why AP was silent about it.

Anyone know how the new play store indicates new permissions in updated apps?

I just got it and it doesn't seem to let me know at all. The old one had them in green and "new", so you'd know if an app suddenly wanted new and intrusive permissions.

cool just 1 question is using paypal safe for rooted phone ?

  • firesoul453

Paypal is horrible. I avoid them whenever I can.

    • Romdude

Why? What happened in your case?

      • firesoul453

Most companies have like a 5 minute phone wait time. Paypal makes it hard just to get on the phone wait list (hard to access a representative) and then your looking at like an hour minimum.

Its hard to believe all the people who have issues and even locked out accounts. Paypal doesn't look bad because as soon as someone goes to the BBB or similar suddenly their issue is fixed.

And its simply horrible because it doesn't work well. They constantly change my default payment back to either balance or line of credit, or sometimes bank direct. I've been charged fees because they took it out of the wrong bank because it didn't use the default payment method and I didn't notice.... Shame on me for trusting them.

Also they are the worst at sending/receiving money. Your looking at 2-3 business days to get it into my paypal balance (from their bank account) and then like 3-4 business days to get it into my bank account. Or vice versa. Where something like square doesn't require routing numbers (simply debit cards, you won't believe how many people don't know or can't figure out their routing number and account number.) And it goes from one bank account to another in like 2-3 business day total.

So they offer horrible customer service and their other services don't work as well as their competition so I see no reason to use them.

        • Romdude

I see. In my experience, I always check before I pay what they are charging and never had the problem with it changing payments. Thanks for sharing.

  • BoFiS

I still do NOT understand why they moved to having the Install and Wishlist buttons (or Update and Uninstall) stacked rather than SIDE BY SIDE like they used to be. They keep making them larger, which helps, but the targets were larger and it was much easier to press the right button when they were side by side a few versions ago.

PlayStore Team are really Far behind. Most of Great Apps are NOT AVAILABLE in countries other than US,EU. '' THIS APP IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR YOUR LOCATION ''.

AppStore does not have such a Bad Feature.

for example. if I search for '' Subwary Surfer , Viber, Facebook , etc '' from my place. I CAN'T FIND THEM! unless I use a VPN to enter as USA, UK in order to download them! the Playstore Team need to remove this Restriction! Most people are hating Android partly because of this and I don't mind them. they're right!

    • http://www.innews.dk/ Erroneus

It's the app developers who decides which countries they want their app's available to, not Google. If you are unhappy about certain apps not being available in your country, contact the developer behind the app.

Like I don't know that Already!!!!!!! That's NOT Exactly the case . that country selection has an effect that's for sure . but you don't know that any app that has in-APP Purchases will NOT be available too. why this problem does not exist on AppStore ??? can anyone answer me ??? It's kind of Racist not to make your apps not available on Some Locations!!! according to you, why a company like FACEBOOK and Viber Don't Make their Apps Available for Other Locations ???? while their aim is to make their app the Most Popular in the entire world ???? that does not make any sense buddy!!!
