The Pushbullet folks crank new functionality into their nifty push notification app so often that it would almost be more newsworthy if they stopped, but until that day comes, here's another cool feature that we're happy to see in the works. The ability to copy and paste across Android and Windows machines recently made an appearance in the beta version of the app, and a screenshot found its way to Google+.

From the image we can see that the feature will require users to have Pushbullet installed on both their PC and their Android phone or tablet. After users enable the functionality on both platforms, content copied to their clipboard should become immediately available across both devices. We can see this working easily with text, but we're curious to see how the app will handle images and other files.

Pushbullet's account quickly responded on the Google+ image, saying that the surprise showing was accidental. The feature isn't ready yet, and it will be a while before it appears in a stable form. But hey, we're excited, and now so are you.

Making an impressive, must-have product that gets better and better. Does the Pushbullet team accept donations? Because it's about that time. Great work!

    • AOSPrevails

They have a xda page, but don't accept donations: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334958

      • Mike Harris

Can you be a little more specific? I'm not seeing anything there about donations.

      AFAIK they don't

    • Mike Harris

I've asked that in the comments sections a few times. The last time I asked was about 5 months ago, but they said they weren't set up for that yet. I haven't heard anything new, but when they start accepting them, I really hope AP lets us all know.

    • MustWarnOthers

I actually sent them an email after using Pushbullet letting them know how much I enjoyed their work and if they would ever have a pay-for Beta channel or something.

This was the response from Ryan O:

"We really do appreciate your offer. We're not trying to be difficult on this haha, it's just right now we're laser focused on improving PushBullet with a clear goal in mind for the next few months. Once we get through these really important improvements, we'll look into the best way to enable you and other to support PushBullet and its future. Hope that makes sense and thanks again."

So needless to say, these guys are working hard and are extremely focused on a good product rather than sales/money. My guess is that judging by the quality of the work put out by the Pushbullet team, the team members are probably not in any position to be worrying about money since their day job equivalent is probably pretty well paying.

      • epsiblivion

they don't have day jobs. the team was working on it in off time originally but a while back they decided to quit their jobs and do this full time. They have money saved up to live off until they get to a point where they're satisfied with the product as you said and can think about monetization methods.

  • João Deiró

It is indeed a great and very useful app. I just wish I could install it without admin privileges at my work PC.

    • Crispin Swickard

I can install the browser plugin, but can't get through the authorization step on their site. Its unfortunate. :( the desktop application is definitely a no go.

It was accidentally pushed live yesterday. I have it on my phone right now, even though it doesn't work yet. I had sent the tip to AP yesterday. Apparently no one noticed.

  • Roh_Mish

Has android L removed that transparent gradient version of the status bar or was pushbullet updated for it?
