The Pebble's software updates keep it slow and steady. Today's 2.2 firmware release doesn't rock the boat, but it introduces a few features that I'm sure fellow Pebble owners out there have wished for at some point or another. The first of which is the ability to reorder items in the launcher menu. Now if you hold the select button on an item in the menu, you can drop it somewhere else in the column.

Another big addition is the ability to control volume within the default music app. Just hold the select button to switch the buttons from backward/forward to volume up/down.

To top things off, when you now set an alarm, it will vibrate for ten minutes instead of one. If that doesn't wake you up, forget about it.

What's new:

  • The Launcher Menu is now re-orderable. Hold the Select button to re-position a menu item.
  • Volume control in the Music app. Hold the Select button while in the app to launch volume controls.
  • Music app redesigned: fixes layout issues and adds a track progress bar (progress bar is iOS only).
  • Alarm now vibrates for 10 minutes instead of 1 minute.
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements.

Unfortunately, still no way to change the order of the watchfaces, as far as I can find. :(

    • RyanB1

I'd like to be able to eliminate unused watch faces, and replace them with apps. This update does help with that though.

FYI: The watch faces are built into the firmware, removing some you do not use will not give you more room for apps or 3rd party watch faces. Pebblebits masks the faces you dont want to see, it does not remove them.

I want this as well, I just have one watchface I customized using Canvas, and I don't care for the others, yet sometimes a random button tap will switch it. I don't want to install aftermarket firmware to do this though as @derk_p:disqus suggests. It should just be an option in the app.

    Great update!

Amazon has it for $119.99 shipped. Best Buy the same but with sales tax.

I stopped using Pebble when they started to demand you connect to the internet in order to upload a watchface to your pebble which was already stored on the phone. I don't want to be spied upon how I use my watch. Ditched pebble. I used to like it but my love is not endless

Apps stored in your locker aren't actually stored locally on your phone. When you upload them to your watch, they first need to be downloaded from the web. This is why unloading and then reloading an app will install the newest version if the app has been updated. You can even see the app loading animation consists of 2 parts. That is why you need a connection, not because of some grand conspiracy on Pebble's part.

Nice Update about Pebble 2.2 Firmware Update http://tiny.cc/hzuzgx

Does anyone else have a lot of random bluetooth disconnects? I have a Pebble Steel, and an Nexus 5 on 4.4.3. (Which I was hoping 4.4.3 would resolve this, and didn't) Also I have already applied this Pebble update.

The phone was in my pocket earlier for instance, and my arm was down so it was all of 2 inches from the phone, and disconnected. It will do this several times over the course of a day.

Aside from that this update is welcome. especially with all the disconnects its now much faster getting into the BT to try to get it to reconnect now that the settings is at the top of the menu for me now..

try factory reset your pebble first, also do "forget this device" in bluetooth settings. Then re-pair them.

    • Sokudoningyou

Yes. And factory resetting doesn't do dick to fix it. I did that myself (several times) because the last Pebble update borked my weather, and it didn't fix either issue.

      • Crispin Swickard

All the factory reset seemed to do was mess up my notification app. :/ I hope I can get that worked back out since the default notifications are almost useless.

        • Sokudoningyou

What app did you use? I noticed Augmented Smartwatch stopped working after my attempts to reset.

          • Crispin Swickard

Notification Center. Previously it was replacing the stock notifications entirely, and not I am getter both. I am going to try to completely remove the watch app, and phone app, and start from scratch.

          • Sokudoningyou

Huh. I still get the stock notifications (and I think the Pebble Canvas notifications app helps), but Augmented Smartwatch stopped working. I couldn't send test notifications at all anymore. Which I suppose isn't too bad; that app is so lacking in explanation I couldn't really use it to any sort of potential.

          • Crispin Swickard

I had it only notifying with Notification Center only. It, when the Pebble was connected was working great. Its ridicules that the default notifications don't have the actual content other than something generic like "New Email". I hope can get it sorted back out.

          • Crispin Swickard

Also you have to turn off the stock notifications on the watch itself. That stops the duplication. Settings>Notifications>Notifications Off/Phone Only if you want the default notifications to handle the phone part.

Is it just me or has the music volume feature gone again?
It worked fine after the update but now I cannot activate it. I've stopped and restarted everything (app, BT, Pebble) but I only have the single play arrow again now, and no toggle.
