Talon-Thumb

Talon thinks your Twitter experience could use a shot in the arm, and it's ready to provide the juice. A big update has rolled out for the app that provides the ability to view multiple images within a single tweet, queue tweets to go out once a data connection is re-established, filter in top tweets while searching, and perform a whole host of other actions. For example, you can also schedule tweets from the compose window and translate tweets from a foreign language.

Perhaps the most interesting bullet on the ol' change log is Android Wear support. The platform isn't even available for consumers to get their grubby hands on just yet, but when the time comes, Talon wants you all to know it's ready.

What's new:

  • Android Wear support
  • Translate tweets (redirects to website)
  • View multiple images in a tweet
  • Schedule tweets from the compose window
  • Automatically queue tweets to send from the compose window when data connection is established
  • Filter in "top tweets" when searching
  • A little better handling of drafts
  • Better handling of clicks on the interaction drawer
  • In-line twipple image support
  • Improved list member viewing
  • Few changes for loading circle images

Born and raised in the rural South, Bertel knows what it's like to live without 4G LTE - or 3G, for that matter. The only things he likes sweeter than his tea are his gadgets, and while few objects burn more than a metal phone on a summer day, he prefers them that way anyway.

Still going with that awful icon, eh?

    • Churchill

      And that orange, ugh

      • Crispin Swickard

They sadly seem to love orange. Its an issue on there, and Evolve. Themes solve it mostly, but the handlebars, and such for manipulating texts, and such are still stuck that way. :/

About 90% off the user made themes on G+ suck though

          • Crispin Swickard

Also very true, and the ones that are pretty good are not perfect. I would be extremely happy if someone just made white/gray highlights to replace the orange on the default dark one.

          • http://vinylchan.tumblr.com/ Vinylchan

I might give this a shot, it's pretty easy to change the theme.
Google's dev tools are brilliant. They forked IntelliJ, which is the best IDE I've used

          • Crispin Swickard

I have considered it, but I have zero coding experience and haven't bothered to look into it. Soon as I seen mentions of compiling, and such I didn't go any further. If you make a Kitkat gray/white highlight one based off the default black one I will be there with bells on. Even if you charge for it. :D

He has put out the code for the built-in Hangouts theme, so I can put that out quicksnap after poking around a bit.
I'll see what I could put out later if I can get the default theme up or something. Exams are coming soon, so it's probably going to be done later...

          • Crispin Swickard

You will be my hero if you can make a white version of the included black theme. :D

Still at no luck just yet

Noticed this application come up in the xposed network that would allow ui changes without a theme application, and allows editing of 'locked' opportunities.

Although it's a little finicky to use haha

I will have to look into it for my N7. I am leaving my N5 completely stock as I had one die on me not long after I had it, and don't want to tempt the warranty gods. lol

I don't mind orange, but the icon is pretty ugly.

      What's wrong with it?

    • Kyle Owens

OMG. I thought I was the only one.

    • Leonardo Loures Quirino

Talon and Falcon, both have terrible icons. I can't see how they can design great apps and fail so much on a basic icon.

        cause developers sucks at design

From the Android Wear dev site:

Caution: The current Android Wear Developer Preview is intended for development and testing purposes only, not for production apps. Google may change this Developer Preview significantly prior to the official release of the Android Wear SDK. You may not publicly distribute or ship any application using this Developer Preview, as this Developer Preview will no longer be supported after the official SDK is released (which will cause applications based only on the Developer Preview to break).

Just because support was added doesn't mean it is included lol I just made it so I can flip a switch and it will work. Google did really well with their android wear stuff, making it really easy to control and manipulate, so this was just a quick feature I wanted to throw in for preparation. Don't think to far in to it lol the extent of that support is just going to be allowing voice input and viewing the profile pictures along with the text.

This update merely got talon set up for this functionality, I have also read this statement when signing up for the preview builds

  • Hassan AlSaffar

My only request for Talon is to open tweet links inside the app probably as how it is implemented on Tweetbot on iOS or other less known apps such Fenix for Android.

  • Bob Omb

My only problem with Talon is that I hate the orange floaty bar, but without it there's no unread count and you can't jump to the top of the timeline by pressing the "Timeline" button. I don't understand why pressing "Timeline" would also open the drawer, when you can already slide the nav drawer open or by pressing the Talon icon, Fenix does this properly imo.

  • Kishan

Talon needs to add a refresh button. Before and after work I jump on an underground train, I like to refresh my timeline with the latest tweets without losing my place at the last tweet I've read
