Some days driving just takes too much effort, taking the train takes too long, and buying a plane ticket takes too much forethought. Thankfully Google has made the option available to take two radically different and arguably faster forms of transportation: riding atop a dragon or cruising on the back of the Loch Ness Monster.

A dragon can get you from Snowdon to Brecon Beacons in just 21 minutes. That's not bad considering it's a journey of over 100 miles.

Alternatively, you can hop on the Loch Ness Monster to get from Fort Augustus to Urquhart Castle, a 28 minute trip that stretches across the entire Loch Ness lake.

If neither of these modes of traveling across Europe works for you, you might need to go incognito. These are private creatures, after all, though in my case they both popped up just fine. Enjoy them while you can, as they're temperamental beings, and we don't know how long they will be around.

Born and raised in the rural South, Bertel knows what it's like to live without 4G LTE - or 3G, for that matter. The only things he likes sweeter than his tea are his gadgets, and while few objects burn more than a metal phone on a summer day, he prefers them that way anyway.

That's when I noticed my ride was about 8 stories tall and a crustacean from the paleolithic era!

Just want to point out (in an outraged Scottish accent) that loch is the Scottish word for lake. So you don't need to say loch ness lake! :-)

    • sarauw

      Lake Ness, it is then

      • kilted droid

Well we get plenty of visitors who call it lake ness or ask to see the lake lochness monster....

        • Attila Magyari

"ask" to see? Do they know it's not a zoo?

Note to self: Buy 1 dragon when making journeys

  • s427

Not sure I get it: how can you activate those easter eggs? Or do they appear automatically only on those locations?

  • s427

Love the fact that the Loch Ness monster makes a little loop in the middle of the lake. ^^

  • JG

How does one activate Dragon/Ness transport, or am I already too late? I followed the dragon link & tried updating the locations - but was only offered traditional transportation modes - car, walk, bus & plane.

Google is like a treasure room full of references to other media haha
