If you're tired of the usual Samsung and Nexus deals, perhaps this one will be of interest. Sony's new flagship, the Xperia Z2, is on eBay Daily Deals for the somewhat reasonable price of $599.99 with free shipping in the US.

2014-05-28 14_30_12-Sony Xperia Z2 D6503 LTE Factory Unlocked 20 7MP 5 2_ 2 3GHz Quad Core _ eBay

The Xperia Z2 has a 5.2-inch 1080p LCD and IP58 certified frame for water and dust resistance. Internally, you're looking at specs that can easily stand up to the other 2014 flagship phones including a Snapdragon 801, 3GB of RAM, and a 20.7MP camera. This is the international version of the device, but it has the necessary bands to work on 3G and 4G LTE on AT&T and T-Mobile in the US.

Shipping will cost you a bit if you're not in the US, but it's still a good price. The claimed $799.99 retail price tag isn't entirely accurate, but this is still quite a bit cheaper than most sources for this device, seeing as it's not officially out in the US.

    $600 for a phone is a deal?

    • Justin W

Considering it's retail was $799 at launch, yes.

    • sssgadget

$349 for your N5 is a deal? I paid $299 for my Moto X and it is the best phone ever.

      Edit :- forgot the /s

      • Mike Reid

        MotoG $199 even better, LOL/

        • Justin W

That's too much, go for the Moto E at $129.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

It is most definitely not the best phone ever.

      • Jephri

Very much agree. I'm tired of the "it's better because it costs half as much argument" A cheap phone that performs worse than a more expensive phone is not better due to their price difference.

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

          ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

        • simp1istic

Would be a solid argument if it actually performed worse. Aside from the speakers everything else on the N5 is pretty comparable (or even better in some cases) than competition.

          • Jephri

Speakers, camera, battery, washed out screen and non expandable memory. I'm a fan of the Nexus 5 but you get what you pay for.

          • simp1istic

Camera is better than the M8, display is what's called "accurate" not washed out, and I don't care at all about non-expandable memory.

You don't always get what you pay for. Sometimes you pay a lot more for very little extra.

    Keep Note 3...or splurge...hmmm

    • ProductFRED

Sony phones are nice, but if you rely on selling your phone to buy a new phone like I do, you have to know that Sony phones are among the worst for holding value. When the Z3 comes out in a few months (like they did for Z -> Z1/S -> Z2), this thing will be worth $250-300.

    • John Lord

i'm in exaclty the same dilemma lol

  • jonathan3579

Shit... I just complained about this phone not being available earlier and now this is the cheapest I've seen it.

    • Jephri

I was about to comment on that post. Lol

  • shlk7

So torn between this and the G3. Maybe this deal would happen again?

    • Justin W

That's where I'm at - I really want a new device, yet the G3, Moto X+1, and others are around the corner.

      • shlk7

Congratulations mate! I really hope you enjoy it!

      • KlausWillSeeYouNow

As I type this on my white Xperia Z2...

Congratulations! You'll love it. This device is a joy!

In case anyone is curious, according to the seller there is no warranty with international devices.

    • KlausWillSeeYouNow

I don't believe that's true. I bought a Z2 from England, contacted Sony USA and they informed me it has full warranty support. Unless it's been tampered with in some way, Sony doesn't just make devices without a warranty.

      • http://tommydaniel.com Tommy Thompson

That's great if they cover it in the US. I was just re-iterating what the seller told me. It's not about a device not having a warranty. It has a warranty, but warranties vary country to country which is why an unlocked device from Europe may have a warranty that is valid in Europe, that same warranty may not be valid elsewhere.

        • KlausWillSeeYouNow

          Good point.

  • ekh

    So tempted.

  • spentan

sick of waiting for this phone in the USA, bought one.

Lets see how it is. I'll be switching from my One M8, (Tried an S5, didn't like it, had Nexus 5, Note 3, S4 and Xperia Z and iPhones before this).

    • simp1istic

I have an M8 and a Z2. It's an incredibly hard decision on which to keep.

      • spentan

Have you tried converting your M8 to GPE? I was thinking of this, but I seriously wanna like the Z2 (now that I've bought it haha).

What do you prefer about the M8?

        • simp1istic

I haven't converted it yet, but I'm close. Sense is ok, but still has way too many little annoying issues like a limit to the number of alarms I can store.

Things I prefer on the m8 over the z2: speakers and hand comfort. That's really about it. The duo camera is an awesome idea in theory, but it needs work.

          • spentan

            Interesting,

I have big hands, (6ft9in and >400lbs), and I've owned a Note 3 before (didn't have a problem with the size, just touchwiz).

Will be interesting to see how the Z2 is. I find the M8 is really slippery (Gunmetal Dev Edition)

          • simp1istic

I've got the silver M8 and it can be a bit slick, but the curves are far more comfortable than the flat slate Z2 design.

    • The Ghost

Holly man.... I always go through the comment b4 I put my own.... Every phone u said I used it... Except note 3, my brother has it n I m not fan of it.... N I order on n switching it from M8....

    • isaac

once u get it can u tell me if u got the noise cancelling earphones

  • Ricardo Ferreira

Still not good for me.. 16gb?? Nah.. I'll wait for the G3.. Sure, waterproof and all is great but that memory.. Gosh.. Some might argue "go to the cloud", well, come on an pay at least US$110 a month for 6gb here in Brazil than (one device).. That might not sound much, but it is..

I'll would be all over a phone with 64gb but the OpO is MIA, the M8 "Developer Edition" doesn't even exist (remember the M7 with 64gb?).

In all, I think that a 16gb device shouldn't cost more than US$450.. Let alone 600/700..

    • Chris P

Sony phones have SD slots, which is nice.

      • Ricardo Kummel

Sure it is nice, but that doesn't change the fact that 16gb isn't enough for me. With all the games/apps I have 32gb is the minimum to my usage scenario.

Btw, I'm logged on Twitter instead of Google, but I'm the same one that comment above.

        • Justin W

I ended up doing it, even though I'd be dropping down from 32GB on a Moto X. It'll be interesting to see how it works, but I also ordered a 64GB MicroSD card to go with it. I'm not sure how well it's going to work since most of my data is app data (GPlay Music / Movies pinned from the cloud).

  • Jackson

$600 deal is now over. Its now up to $660... Good thing I got it at $600 :-)

  • isaac

so apparently they don't ship with the noise cancelling earphones according to the seller it only comes with regular sony headphones...

  • http://www.volkswagen.de/ Quailallstar

Dang I missed this deal! :/

  • spentan

Received the Z2 today, It is amazing, I'm really surprised it came with the DK36 charging dock.

No Noise Cancelling headphones in the box, not too fussed, I dont use earbuds anyway.

    Very Happy :D

  • http://www.volkswagen.de/ Quailallstar

If anyone wants to sell me their unopened white model just let me know. :)

  • http://www.volkswagen.de/ Quailallstar

Update for those who missed this deal the first time around. It's back up and for a limited time over on ebay. Picked up a white one at last :)
