Amazon just can't help giving stuff away lately. After the impressive $22 promotion for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, they've come back with another Amazon Appstore freebie. If you download the five apps at this link (iHeart Radio, Food Network In The Kitchen, Strawberry Shortcake Bake Shop, Dr. Panda's Restaurant, and Don't step the white tile [sic]), your Amazon account will be credited with 1000 Amazon Coins, i.e., ten bucks to spend in the Appstore.

In fact, downloading each title will get you 200 Coins apiece ($2), but there's no reason not to grab them all for the free credit. Unlike the GTA deal, this promotion will work on any Android device with the Amazon Appstore installed - you can even see the "200 Coins" text underneath the download button. You don't have to keep the apps installed (and with the possible exception of iHeart Radio, why would you want to?), you can get rid of them as soon as they're downloaded.

Just a reminder: Amazon Coins can only be used for apps or in-app purchases in the Amazon Appstore. They can't be applied towards purchases of physical goods or digital content like movies or Kindle books. International readers may or may not have access to this promotion.

Source: Amazon - Thanks, Bikram!

P.S. downloading one of the apps above (I think it was iHeart Radio, but I can't be sure) gave me an additional $1 credit for Amazon MP3. Bonza.

Keep it coming. Have close to $30 worth of amazon coins. Hopefully they will continue these deals.

  • GTA sa android+ Mods= Mola

as I can check my balance of amazon Coins?

    • My1

      Amazon app top right.

    • SEJ326

If you're on a computer and logged in to your Amazon account in your web browser, go to the page for any paid app and in the green box on the right with the purchase information, it'll say "You have xxx coins"

      • GTA sa android+ Mods= Mola

I need to have my credit card linked by Store?

  • Guest

  • IrishSid

    • Christian T

same, all the apps but not the radio app

  • sean

You do know that they are buttering us up for a summer sale? Everyone (including me) are going to save these coins when the summer hits and they drop the prices like an ugly baby we are going to probably ignore the Google sales. At least those not deep in the know.

  • Fattosh

Is it US only? I didnt get anything last time. I'm from Sweden.

    • GJV

I hope you bought that awesome orange Volvo wagon that's for sale in Sweden.

    • http://about.me/jovanphilip Van

Just go to your Device Settings on the website and change the location to USA. You're welcome :)

      • Cerberus_tm

Thanks for the tip! But I had already "bought" the free apps, so I can't get the coins now that I have changed my account to USA, except for the Radio app, which was not available before.

        • http://about.me/jovanphilip Van

Just delete the apps from "Your Apps and Settings" page manually and then you can 'buy' them again for the coins. ;)

          • Cerberus_tm

Thanks, that worked!! I also got the 2000 coins from GTA: San Andreas that way! Now I have 2400 coins.

  • Mattia

Can't get in Italy. It's US only :(

    • http://about.me/jovanphilip Van

      Change location on the website.

  • Mathsiel

Why Poweramp is not in Amazon?

  • http://www.vinsonimages.com yamaha83

you dont have to actually download them. i just clicked "get now with one click" from my computer web browser and i got the coins. saves time having to download and then uninstall them

    • David Peterson

This is exactly what I did. This also works if your device is incompatible (not a problem now, but it worked for the GTA deal).

Keep Strawberry Shortcake far from my phone and tablet thank you very much

      • clueless6328

If the device is incompatible, I don't even get a button.

      • Nathan J

Meanwhile, I'll be rushing to install Strawberry Shortcut on my Nexus 7.

On my wife's side (we share her Amazon account; I haven't got one).

Because she loved Strawberry Shortcake as a kid and I pass no opportunity, especially not this one, to remind her of that.

  • GJV

Even better, just click through on your browser and you don't have to install those apps at all.

Edit: guess yamaha beat me to it.

  • Guest

Worked in France with the provided link except for iHeart Radio not available in France.

    Thanks

    Ok Michael,

Now I have one big f'ing problem. I have almost $30 in Amazon app store credit, but I have no idea what to buy with it. Think AP can help me out with a review of the best Apps on the Amazon App store?

  • ynksbsbll2

After doing this, you can buy GTA San Andreas for 700 points and get 2000 additional points.

  • Clint P

So, can I go buy GTA San Andreas for 699 coins and still get the 2000 bonus coins from the purchase for a net gain of 1301 coins?

    • Tomasz Kuczynski

      Don't you mean 2301?

      • Clint P

Hah, thanks. It's still early here... Cheers!

        • Tomasz Kuczynski

No problem. Now I have to figure out how to run Kindle Fire only apps on my Nexus 5.

          • Tim

Sign in through a web browser from your computer. That's how I did it anyway. Using Chrome on my PC

          • Tomasz Kuczynski

Yeah, I bought it. That wasn't an issue - I just don't have a Kindle Fire and really want to play San Andreas.

    • tadas

Can we purchase san andreas several times to get free coins more than once?

      • TJJ

A few weeks ago you could do this on amazon.co.uk. (though it's now fixed)

As for US, I believe it was fixed some time ago, as they've found time to explicitly mention it in the terms & conditions.

I haven't checked the DE or other EU sites...

  • http://www.lazyrivr.com/ Andy Bell

Even better, you can use the coins you get from this promo to do the GTA promo and get even more coins! I went from 0 coins to over 2000 without spending any money using this method!

  • Cherokee4Life

hehe use the 1000 coins from this to purchase GTA San Andreas with 699 of them and it gave me 2000 coins from that purchase.

    FREE MONEY!

  • Martin Holička

Is the concept of Amazon Coins restricted to only some countries? I am from Czech republic and cannot find a word about Amazon Coins anywhere on the site or in the app.

    • Marcel Jóźwiak

In Poland I found info - Amazon coins are not available at your location (on website while you try to buy come coins).

      • Tomek

It's weird, because it's working for me (Poland too).

  • Chronics

    Nothing in UK

    • http://about.me/jovanphilip Van

    Another US only promotion

    • Emile’sGhost

      Another whiny European.

      • Aooga

        Really?

    • http://about.me/jovanphilip Van

You can change the location of your device on the website.

  • NoneOfYourBizzness

You need a kindle Fire to get in on the GTA deal tho, right?

    • Ray

      or a Computer

      • NoneOfYourBizzness

Thanks. I was seeing that it was incompatible with my devices, then realized it doesn't matter..i'm just here for the coins!!

  • hp420

I now have 3,374 coins. Thanks Amazon and AP!! :)

    • Aooga

Dumb question, but where can you see how many coins you have?

      • hp420

In the app, it's on the top corner. On a desktop browser, open an app's page and it shows in the right column under purchase options. That's the only place I can find it on a web browser, for some reason.

    • Dakota

I'm at 3680..and have nothing to spend it on. Guess dont need to bother checking FAOTD anymore

      • hp420

Same here. I wish it was Google Play credit. I'll find something eventually, though.

        • wewwe

more apps with free coins pls or app that can i buy in a small amount that gives back a higher amount of coins. pls?

  • Spencer Buchanan

I think there is a drawback to all this - I have to use the Amazon App store...

    • Milind

Yup. That's why I stopped getting apps from the app store. If you remove the Amazon App Store app, all the apps stop working. WTF! I'll likely use the coins to buy music.

  • Dakota

Coins need to be eligible for movies books, TV etc.. They've given me 2800 coins & theres not a damn thing I want. I used coins to be the san Andreas even though it apparently isn't compatible with the phone. They didn't deduct those points so I wish I could use them for something. I have over $12 built up for Google Play Rewards

    • Dakota

Well now I have 3690 coins and never paid for am app I'm my life.. But Amazon apps often are version behind GP cuz developers ignore it

      • retry

where did you get that large amount of coins? what app did you downloaded?

  • http://about.me/jovanphilip Van

For those of you outside of the USA who can't get the deal, simply go to your Amazon Device Settings on the website and change your country.

    • Mick Collingwood

There is no option to do this. Only options are too rename or remove device.

      • http://about.me/jovanphilip Van

Go to https://www.amazon.com/manageyourkindle and on the left side, under "Your Device and Settings" choose "Country Settings" et voila.

        • Mick Collingwood

Thanks for the reply but I don't get that option. That link leads me to a page Manage Your Content and Devices.

Left menu has heading Your kindle library then books, magazines, apps etc but no device and settings and no country settings.

I'll have a look at the account page and see if I can find anything.

          • http://about.me/jovanphilip Van
          • Mick Collingwood

Nope, the whole 'Your Device and Settings' menu is missing, I'm going to download and install Firefox and try it on there.

          • Mick Collingwood

I figured it out, I didn't have that section there because even though I can use the amazon.com site I'm registered at amazon.co.UK so I have to use that site to manage my devices. I can see the options now. Thanks for your help.

          • http://about.me/jovanphilip Van

Glad it's working for you. :)

  • Nathan J

Yes, you are; you get Nexus phones and dirt-cheap broadband; we get Amazon coin deals. Go US! /s But yeah, change your location like others have said. No slick trick to make a Nexus 5 work here (only a couple smaller carriers will activate it—doesn't help me any).

  • http://about.me/jovanphilip Van

You don't have to go through all of that. Just go to Kindle Device Settings and change your country to USA and it works. I live in the Caribbean.

    • AssToast

      I don't have a kindle device

      • http://about.me/jovanphilip Van

You don't have to own a kindle. It's a page on the amazon site that manages all apps you bought from them.

    • Sxm Time

      I live here too :) in st.martin

  • firesoul453

I don't think I would ever spend money on the amazon app store but this is really nice!

  • http://www.facebook.com/umang.ladia Umang Ladia

Any way a non US resident can get these apps and them free coins....??

  • El_Pianista

  • http://androidhackbr.blogspot.com/ Jonas Henrique (joheraga)

Where I see how much coins I have?
I'm from Brazil e and I didn't find where i see it, i already "bought" the apps, but i dont know where can i see my coins HELP

  • A2theC

You should tag in the post that they are still running the GTA:SA promo until June 11, buy GTA:SA for (kindle only) and get 2000 coins to spend on anything else.

  • NikhilW

So I finally gave in and installed this Amazon Appstore.. And also, hastily, installed one of the apps. Only to find that the coins deal is not available in India.. It did give me the mp3 credit but that too is usable only in US..!!

  • DN

Then after you get the 1,000 buy GTA San Andreas for 600 and get another 1,400 free. Wewt.

  • http://victorhaggqvist.com/ Victor Häggqvist

Appearently you need to have account setting and US VPN to get free conins. I only got 200 coins for the iHeart Radio, which i bought througt VPN. Got nothing from the other four which I bought on my regular Swedish internet.

  • Jax Spade

Since almost everyone has realized that between all the various free coin promos and discounted apps that you can pretty much download and earn almost anything you want from the Amazon store. So, my question is does anyone think this gravy train will end or is even sustainable long term?

  • NotGettingCoins

I just tried buying the 5 apps but haven't received the free coins. It's been 10 minutes. Does it usually take this long or has Amazon changed something?

  • TJJ

Anyone found a way of tricking the amazon app store into thinking a vanilla Android device is a kindle?
I've tried mimicking a kindle in build.prop, but that just causes Amazon's app store to crash on launch.
I also tried obtaining Amazon's Kindle emulator... but all I found was a load of outdated docs & dead links (the emulator was discontinued a few months ago)

There are so many Kindle Fire+ apps on Amazon's store, if someone could figure this out we'd finally have something to spend all these free coins on!

    • GameMaster

You can spend them on in-app purchases in games. :)

  • Bradb1985

    Is this deal over?
