There's still no standard for connected devices around the home, but Belkin's WeMo home automation system is a pretty popular option. The Android app hasn't wowed users in the past, but it's getting an update today that might (I hope) address some of those issues.

Here's the full v1.6 changelog.

  • Support for Android KitKat
  • New Motion notification rule for Sensor
  • New product support for Crock-Pot® Slow Cooker
  • New product support for WeMo Maker (Coming soon)
  • Bug fixes and general improvements

The KitKat support item is an odd one. We know that the app has been working on Android 4.4, but perhaps this improving stability or fixing the notoriously buggy setup process. That would be nice. Other than that, it's a lot of little stuff. Well, except for the Crock-Pot support – that's easily the most important update any app has ever received.
