Attention, gamer: your PlayStation playmates can now goad you into multiplayer matches anytime, anywhere. Well, they can if you've got the latest version of the official PlayStation Android app. Last night's update added push notifications for the PSN game-centric social network, according to the official PlayStation blog.

The bad news is that this feature seems to be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and certain games, at least at the moment. The good news is that you can turn them off. Supported notifications include game alerts (for some titles), friend requests, and invitations. Of course, you won't be able to do much about them unless you happen to be at home when you get the alert.

The update also allows you to take a photo with your phone and set it as your PSN profile picture, which should cut down on the amount of Cole MacGrath and Kratos imposters playing online. You can also receive friend requests via email or text message. That's about it - enjoy the update, video gamers.

The app is still ugly, super slow and unresponsive. I got a lot of down votes yesterday for saying this in /r/ps4 ...
"PS trophies" is way better, if you just wanna check your trophies or chat with your buddies.

I know right? It makes no sense. I don't get why they just throw money at it to make it more stable and fluid.

Working fine here. The second screen stuff is really net. I hear the DVD/Blu-Ray player is going to use that as it's remote...

PSN profile picture dont stick. It seems to be only in a friends list because sony accounts, online posting etc it still shows the original. Maybe they are working on the back end and having it sync. Also by your name it still shows the old avatar next to the new one.

And just like that everyone's display pic on psn became pornographic...
