Attention residents of the UK, Canada, and Australia: Google would like to ask you some questions. In exchange you will be paid exactly one pittance. Don't complain or they'll cut it to, like, 0.75 of a pittance. But hey, free money is free money. All you have to do is grab the newly updated Google Opinion Rewards app and wait patiently for Google to call your number.

This app launched in the US a few months back, offering Google Play credit in exchange for answering survey questions. The payout was fairly substantial early on, but has since dropped off. Once installed, Google Opinion Rewards will notify you when there is a survey waiting. Most of them are 1-3 questions and pay the equivalent $0.25-0.50.

Maybe with the expansion of Opinion Rewards to other regions there will be a corresponding uptick in payouts. The only way to find out is to download the app.

Canada, UK, and Australia residents rejoice! You're actually getting something from Google not too long after launch.

    • silver_arrow

      And this one pays us!

    • Hayden Lueck

      "not too long"
A few months is a pretty long time. Also, while this is nice it's still not Play Music. *sigh*
I want somewhere to buy music.

      • Guest

We've got Play Music here but I would love to get the surveys :C

        • Andrw

Still no Play Music in Canada. Unbelievable!

    • Mike Reid

Cool ! Here in still too cold Canada....

After about 5 minutes, I earned my 1st dollar of store credit, worth 70 cents to an app dev of course.

Wait a minute. Is this a Canadian dollar ? 10+% ripoff if so, LOL.

The paid survey was 2 questions effectively asking if I'm a good target for daily allergy pill ads. Guess what kinds of ads I'll be seeing shortly, LOL. At least when adblock isn't protecting me...

Had to answer a test first, to see if I pay attention and write comments of at least a few words. I'd guess if you don't show you pay attention, you won't be selected.

  • Ben

I accidentally put in the wrong age so this won't let me start surveys. Does anyone know how to restart it

    • hazza

Clear app data and cache I assume.

    • Matthew Fry

Wait till you're old enough ;-)

72p, I'm rich! At least it will give me some tech funds to buy apps where I think "is it really worth £1.99?"

      £1.12 boom
I don't think you can part pay though :-/

      • Matthew Fry

You cannot. It's a little annoying.

  • Michael Pahl

FINALLY...the amount of bitching can be reduced.

  • Taylor00

    • Zyre

Google: ''But the USA is the only place in the world right? right ?''

      • Taylor00

        You got it right.

I wish I could get surveys more frequently again. It was great until the first time I got an error after completing a survey. After that, it seems so sporadic. I told my sister about the app, someone who didn't even use anything Google much at all. She gets surveys damn near every day.

    • http://tonybullard.com/ Tony Bullard

She's in a more desirable demographic...

Or, she chose to do the free surveys too...

      • senor_heisenberg

Well of course she chose to take the surveys. How else would I know she gets so many of them? I was just saying I used to get them that often as well, so yeah, I guess she's in a more desirable demographic.

Either way, it's not a big deal. Something is better than nothing.

        • http://tonybullard.com/ Tony Bullard

No, the FREE surveys. You have an option to take only surveys that pay, or any surveys. Obviously there are less paid surveys than free ones, so perhaps she's doing the free ones, thus getting more surveys overall.

          • senor_heisenberg

Oh, well my bad sir. Hope I didn't come off as rude. I assumed all these Google surveys paid you. I don't recall ever taking one that didn't give me Google Play credit, 10 cents being the lowest amount.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/author/pamela-hill/ Pamela Hill

I get one every day too. Today, I got two. :)

    • Matthew Fry

I get one once a week, maybe. I guess I'm not that interesting.

    • Gabernasher

Women get them a lot more often, my wife gets like 1 a day, she's earned almost $30 so far.

  • Régis Knechtel

    pls come to Brazil

  • RockAndRock

    Google hates France :P

    • Nadefrenzy

Well who doesn't hate the french. ZING

      • RockAndRock

        Lol I love you

    • Régis Knechtel

Google hates every country in the world, besides USA

      • RockAndRock

        It's ironic ;)

      • me

its true, same with microsoft with xbone, netflix so on... if your info isn't worth ad money, you arent worth shit

    • iDarKz

I'd really like to see this app in France too.
We will get it in a lot of months or even never :/

    • Gabernasher

Don't sue them over giving your news websites free hits and they won't hate you.

  • Nathan S.

What I would like is for them to at some point allow hardware purchases. I have about $15 bucks built up. Spent a little here and there. But would be nice to be able to score a chromecast or something.

  • Hayden Lewis

Just installed it (Australia). Got my first paid question 'What is your favourite colour'. Got paid $1 AUD to answer that. Not complaining at all.

    • Matthew Fry

Hahaha. The first survey in the US was like 15 questions long and our answers determined if we were 'accepted' or not. You get, "What is your favorite colour?"

  • comfortablynumb

Won't let me sign up, requires me to have a google wallet account which guess ehat? Isn't available in the UK

    • taz89

I'm in the UK and had no issue, I think it needs you to have a debit or credit card registered with Google play store.

    • https://plus.google.com/u/0/108482452903817442299/posts Andrew Bone

Google wallet have been here for ages, you might have a google checkout account

  • Mikeb3ll

I made $1 answering 3 questions about Gillette shaving...this is pretty awesome!!

  • firesoul453

I've literally gotten like $7 from this app! Too bad I cannot find any apps worth their price....

      gameloft games

      • firesoul453

definitely don't need any more android games. Have a ton and not the biggest fan of touch screen games.

        • Joe

Root your phone and install sixaxis controller then you can play games with a ps3 controller!

  • taz89

Anyone know how to change options, I accidentally agreed to receive surveys that dont offer reward but who wants to do those so is there anyway to change it. The app literally has no settings.

  • usaff22

I already have $0.00 in my Google Wallet account balance, so it's not allowing me to change my country to the UK. I tried to complete a survey, but haven't received anything yet. It still thinks I'm in the US. Really annoying. WTF Google? $0.00 means empty!

  • usaff22

I have $0.00 in my Google Wallet account balance meaning I apparently can't change my country to the UK. And I haven't earned a cent from the first opinion reward I did. My credit card and billing address is set to the UK too.

    WTF Google? $0.00 means empty!

  • Drootz

My only complaint with the google rewards is they give you Cash/Credit for use in the play store BUT you can't use your credit of say 20 cents and pay the difference for an app that's over the amount of your credit (ex. use 20 cent credit and pay the remainder of $1.00 for an app that's $1.20) I would like to use up my credit but can't since nothing I want is 23 cents.....

    • Gabernasher

So get more credit? You have year to spend it.

    • firesoul453

Its restrictions like that that let them give us so much. Survey sites (even legit ones) pay much less since you can get the amount as cash.

  • Vito Lee

I make so little right now from this I sure hope they pay more. Maybe I should've put myself in a more desirable demographic... Taking forever to save up for titanium backup pro.

  • Spasillium

Watch out for trick questions, such as using a product that doesn't exist, that has a lot of questions related to it. You get one warning and after that you're out of getting rewards from them.

  • Miles

What I'd really like to know is where is all this information going? Obviously Google are trying their hand at replacing current market research companies that have traditionally done this kind of thing over the phone, via web surveys or even in person via interview.
Are these surveys for Google or can anyone order them?

  • J_Pod

And STILL forces portrait mode on my 10.1" tablet! Is it really that hard to add in a landscape mode?

    • firesoul453

      Yes. Yes it is lol.

  • Alexandre Leites

I currently live in Australia, but I used to live in Brazil when I created my Google Account. When I open the app, it says that my account is not valid for use. There is anything I can do? I have changed my current city in Google Accounts (G+) but not worked...

  • abobobilly

FINALLLYYYYY. Finally i can use a UK VPN to use Opinion Rewards :D

I so want to get those "FREE" contents in PlayStore atleast , which require a credit card, or some sort of balance. I just hope it works.

  • abobobilly

Do you guys think we can "Reset" out Opinion Rewards settings? I think i have done a dumb mistake of adding a Zip code of a country, other than UK :

  • Liam W

Hmmm, I don't think I've been approved (or maybe they just don't work on bank holidays?).

I did have to select Other for the age range though...
