Cut the Rope isn't Angry Birds, but in term's of popularity, it's come pretty close. The original game centered around getting a piece of candy into the mouth of the most adorable green, one-eyed something we've ever seen. The core gameplay in the latest sequel is, unsurprisingly, largely the same. Players will still spend their time feeding the appropriately named Om Nom by cutting the many ropes that some unspeakably evil being (game designer) has used to keep the poor creature hungry.

Like any good sequel, Cut the Rope 2 expands on the originally by adding more. There are more puzzles, more colors, more variety, and more characters. That last group forms perhaps the most substantial change to the game, as each one adds to the complexity of puzzles in various ways.

Om Nom's new friends:

  • Roto can carry Om Nom to the best candy catching locations
  • Lick can make small bridges with his tongue to help Om Nom reach his goal
  • Blue can lift Om Nom to new levels of candy hunting fun
  • Toss can throw objects, including candy
  • Boo can scare Om Nom to jump to new heights

Oh, there are also more in-app purchases. We can't forget about those.

Just think about how much real candy you could get for $49.99.

Still, kudos to ZeptoLab for putting a notice up at startup for parents warning them that if they don't want their children to spend money, they should check their device settings. That could help prevent IAP-related lawsuits.

Virtual currency aside, this is a free-to-play game. Check it out via the widget below.
