Aspiring remote pilots, one of the most popular remote control drones is on sale with a whopping discount over at Woot. The Parrot AR Drone 2.0, controllable from just about any Android phone or tablet via the free pilot app, is just 9.99 on Woot.com's daily sale. That's a full 0 off the Amazon price for the same model, though this version is refurbished (or "factory reconditioned" as the Woot description puts it.)

The AR Drone is a quadcopter that's surprisingly fast, maneuverable, and easy-to-fly with the simple remote control app. You'll need an Android or iOS device to pilot it - there's no hardware controller included. The onboard 720p camera can transmit and record video to your phone. This is the second of three versions of the Parrot AR Drone models, with improved flight stability, camera resolution, and WiFi reception over version one. The latest iteration, the "Elite" version, adds longer flight time and more color options, but otherwise it's the same toy, currently retailing for $300-370. The Woot package includes the standard drone, battery, charger, and both closed and open-rotor Styrofoam shells. Colors are random, though the description says most of them have blue trim.

This gadget is a great introduction to the remote control and robotics hobbies, especially if you happen to have an NVIDIA SHIELD hanging around, since it supports twin-stick hardware controls. As with all primary Woot sales, the price is good for today only (or until stock runs dry), and shipping anywhere in the United States.
