Those torrents aren't going to download themselves. You're going to want yourself a solid bittorrent client, and since you're running Android, you're in luck. The BitTorrent app underwent a big 2.0 redesign just last month, and now µTorrent is starting to do the same. It's a much needed change too. Just take a look.

uTorrent7 uTorrent8 uTorrent9

Version 2.0 is also introducing new features, such as the ability to select specific files within a torrent.

uTorrent5 uTorrent6

Unfortunately, the new version isn't available to all of us just yet. The screenshots in the Play Store have been updated, but unless you're a beta tester, you will still end up downloading version 1.22. We haven't found a way to join the list of testers, so it looks like most of us will have to wait until the update rolls out to everyone.

Update: It looks like µTorrent is rolling this update out to a small number of general users initially to test it out before pushing it out as a wide release later on. You may have already received an update. If you don't yet have it on your device, there is still a chance 2.0 will be the version that installs when you hit the widget below.

What's new in µTorrent 2.02 (in beta - available to a % users):

  • Refreshed design
  • Select files within a torrent
  • Choose torrent download location before or after torrents have started
  • Choose to delete torrents only, or torrents & files

I am not a beta tester and I have this build for a few days already (2 or 3 maybe).
Looks nice, but when you go to settings, it still uses the old-and-ugly graphics from the previous version.

Thanks for this. I'll update the post.

What is the difference between uTorrent and BitTorrent for Android?

    • Droiden

I would like to know that too. The same goes for the desktop version. Isn't uTorrent owned by bitTorrent too?

µTorrent was once created as a bloat free alternative to BitTorrent. Then the usual happened. Time costs money. Money is accumulated with bloat. µTorrent turns into BitTorrent...

    • Ezzy

BitTorrent was re-branded after the acquisition of µTorrent by BitTorrent inc.

Not only for for android but for desktop to.... No difference between them except the color.

I'm not a beta tester and I've the new version.

Cool to know. I'll put this in the post.

        Nice ^^

Could you upload the apk to Google Drive please ?

  • Harsha

Currently I'm using aTorrent. Is this better than that?

    • metalspy8

yes it is. i use to think utorrent was the bomb than i tried atorrent and it was faster at downloading.

      • http://www.Mikereviews.co.uk/ Mike Brown

Download speed is dictated by the available sources and your internet quality, not the program your using. Unless you can give me repeatable evidence, I will assume it was a fluke.

  • awaaas

"Choose torrent download location before or after torrents have started"
^ This. Some torrents have a colon ( : ) in their name, so it cannot be saved in the storage.

  • metalspy8

Atorrent is better in my opinion, utorrent would not download at times even if i had a seed over 5k.

  • Pratik Holla

The settings portion still looks hideous btw. It's still stuck in gingerbread land

  • Joel

Ttorrent for me and it works great.

I gotta ask - what do you guys download via torrent and from where? I've installed torrent clients couple of times but never found anything interesting to download. So, I've uninstalled it. But I hear so much about torrents that I feel like I'm missing out. Some guidance here, please.

    • James Green

You couldn't find anything interesting to download? With the help of a good torrent site you can find anything. Google ukbay

        Thanks. Checking that out now.

        • Skander

*cough* Pirate Bay. UK Bay is a proxy for Pirate Bay.

      • kekes

        Kickass torrent ;-)

  • Jozef Dodži Mikuláš
    • Harsha

This is doing better than aTorrent!

  • Roh_Mish

One thing I don't understand is what is the need to have two clients which are more or less the same now. It's just bardnding and colour that's different.

    • Steve Sy

      Wondering the exact same.

  • GraveUypo

i don't really use torrent on my phones, but on desktop computers i've come to hate utorrent. They think we want to make our lives about their stupid torrent software just as every torrent client that gets too popular for its shoes. keep it simple, ffs. that's why i switched from azureus to utorrent in the first place. and why i switched from utorrent to qbittorrent.

    • Nick Matteoli

I only use it occasionally and can see your points.
But the uTorrent Remote app is a must for me. When I'm out and about I can add, start, or stop torrents from my phone. Awesome!

  • jules

Two Sundays ago I tried all populair torrent-apps sleeping out of town wanting to see some mma-event from the night before on tablet. I picked (blue) aDownloader as by far the best free torrent-app. So free but full download speed, great search engine with several sources (within app first download offered xml-file), dark theme. Great options such as automatcly stop at certain battery% if wanted, etc.

  • Fatal1ty_93_RUS

    Now it's finally usable!

  • Hrishikesh Bisen

Vuze is best for me in speed consistency

  • didibus

The uTorrent client on the computer sends information about what you download to their server. For that reason, I never use it and instead use open source alternatives like qBitTorrent. I'd personally follow this rule for their Android client also. Especially since I don't know how to run peer block on Android.
