Say what you will about the official Twitter client, at least they're trying. The UI is still a little odd, but the beta is showing signs of improvement. For example, a recent update added support for immersive mode on KitKat devices.

Immersive mode is different that the transparent system bar interface, so don't get too excited. Immersive mode hides both the navigation and status bar for a full screen experience. The current beta includes immersive mode when you open a picture from the stream.

The beta version is 5.2, and 5.1 didn't have this as far as we know. So it's a fairly recent change. If you want to get on the beta bandwagon, you'll have to be part of the beta program.

Forgot to comment about the scrolled widget which was a nice addition but it's still sucks.

Interesting that one of the simplest social networks has one of the busiest, messiest apps.

They opened the Beta registration again, I just tried it and it went through without a hitch. Going to take a look at the new app now.

I've been locked out of my account for a few months now. No response from the Twitter Support team. The problem seems widespread enough but no-one has offered a solution. Link:https://dev.twitter.com/discussions/21192

    As another user describes it:
"Weeks ago I deleted and re-installed my twitter app via mobile. I go to log back in and it says I need to create a backup code on your desktop site. So I go to the desktop site and try and log in. Then it tells me it sent a verification that I need to approve on my mobile [it never arrives]. Well I'm locked out of my mobile and now the desktop site."

    It's an infinite loop...

I like this app, they just to put Notification and messages to the right place (Never used Discovery or Activity).. But it's still good.

  • Ryan

once I found out you can actually turn off those annoying 'conversation' and 'these people followed that person' notifications under the settings buried deep under account, I've gone back to using the official beta client. it's nice to see them at least making the effort towards android convention

push notifications are more important to me than the slick interfaces of fenix/talon

I don't have to wait to use 100% of my screen. Virtual buttons... not even once lmao.

  • Sam

They need to remove that tweeting line at the bottom and allow customization of the three (or more) tabs.

I was just about to jump in excitement until i read ... "FOR IMAGES". All excitement went to hell.

    Argh.

    *insert nothing-to-do-here gif*

Btw, the app still looks ugly.
