The hyper-popular fitness app RunKeeper has gotten an update today with a new "Training" tab, among other things. The interface doesn't look much different, but this tab includes some free training plans for losing weight, working up to a 5k, half-marathons, and more.

Here's the full changelog for the new version.

  • Easily follow your training schedule and crush your workouts with

The Training tab replaces Activities, but all that info has been moved into the redesigned Me tab. The training plans include schedules, reminders, and advice on reaching the chosen goal. There aren't a ton of plans right now, but I imagine more will be added.

    Nice app.

Sad that there are lots of apps to lose weight but not much to build muscle or gain weight. I guess it is best to invest in what the majority needs

There is one that is great for that: YAYOG (You Are Your Own Gym), based on bodyweight exercise. it's really great, you can check the book or the exercises, just google it. The PT is Mark Lauren.
