If you have EVGA's Tegra Note 7, it's time to dive into the settings menu and grab the latest – NVIDIA is currently pushing Android 4.4.2 to the device right now.

This, of course, brings all the goodness of KitKat to the device (and makes it drastically more appealing in my opinion), so you'll want to pull this one ASAP. No word on what else is new just yet, but we'll be sure to update this post with anything that we uncover.

Hmmm. Tab was extremely sluggish (constant freezes) immediately after the update and initial reboot. Another reboot and it seems to be acting fine...

Yeah, I noticed that too. Odd.

Same here. Smooth as butter now.

Well at least it's not behind AOSP anymore

Meanwhile, the HP Slate 7 Extreme sits around in 4.2.2 land :( I could really use that memory optimization!

    • It’s a Me

I'm really, REALLY, hoping they knew of the KitKat update and decided to update straight to it, sometime Very Soon™.

      • Nancho Urón

I was thinking exactly the same.

I got a question for you Slate 7 Extreme owners: Is your device identified as TegraNote-P1640 in your Settings > About screen?

If it is, you guys should be getting the update ASAP since the updates are handled by NVIDIA themselves. If it's not, then I apologize and hope HP (or whoever handles their OTAs and updates) will release it soon.

          Negative :(

          • Cheeseball

Oh damn, sorry dude. :( Looks like HP are the ones who will be handling rolling out updates.

    SD card?

Does the hp slate 7 extreme have 4.3 or 4.4 yet?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Cameron Summerson

      No. :/

        Stupid packards

I'm hoping a Shield update isn't too far behind.

TN7 seems to be getting updates fairly quickly. It wasn't too long ago that it got the Android 4.3 update (less than two months ago, actually).

It's nice to see that. Refreshing.

I updated last night and now this morning my device is stuck between the home screen and start up screen! I can't restart or reset! Is anyone else having this problem?

I get c constant crashes in dolphin browser after update. Everything else working fine though....

  • seby55

with this pach i can;t do a shit in my sd card....not even delete a folder, idiots

    • oDuffman

Same here, I was hoping they would fix the 64 gig SD card read/write but now my tn7 won't write on my 8gig. Anyone else having issues with that?

  • duffman

I am liking the 4.4.2 but my sd card is useless now. This is actually part of googles kit Kat code, not nvidea's fault. I hope they have permission to override googles sd patch in android is. They should have learned when apple couldn't stop jail breaking. Expandable storage in my opinion the great Perk over the OS7 (iphonepad)

  • sokae

Someone please tell me if HP slate 7 Extreme will be getting it too?

  • seby55

fuk all....make my sd card to work idiots

  • Mary Web..

Someone asked about HP. As of Mar 3 2014 "Google Android Jelly Bean Restore Image2013-11-26
    , Version7, 353.73M".

So no ..no update what so ever. I feel sorry for those that bought it.

  • ken

Ever since this update I have had problems.
Boots and runs much slower, passwords are no longer remembered, and stylus removal detection is about 50% of the time.
    Anyone else having problems?

I can't find the external ST card anywhere. When I first got the Tegra note it detected a card in my and it came up as external ST card now it's gone. I've tried a whole bunch of cards and they all work on my camera and the computer. there is a folder called ST card 1 which comes up but it's always empty
