NBC is finally taking the time to give its Android apps some tender loving care. The company has finally brought its mainline news app out of the Froyo era, but wisely choosing not to stop there, it has updated its Breaking News app as well.

BreakingNews1 BreakingNews3 BreakingNews4

BreakingNews5 BreakingNews6 BreakingNews7

The old version already had a flat UI with relatively few colors, but the difference is still night and day. Colors and text both pop now, and they should look much better on high-resolution screens. The app remains ad-supported though, so your experience won't be quite as clean as that shown above. The update also introduces the ability to personalize your breaking news alerts and mute those topics you're not interested in. Goodbye, Justin Bieber.

What's new:

2.0: Fully redesigned, including personalized breaking news alerts, topic muting, and more!

Thanks, raiialshalfa!
