There are plenty of Android tablets out there worthy of your attention, but Dell's offerings might not be at the top of your list. With $50 off, though, you might want to take another look. The retailer is offering a discount on the 16 and 32GB variants of the Dell Venue 8 until February 13th.

The Dell Venue 8 has a dual-core Intel Atom Z2580, 2GB of RAM, and an 8-inch 1280x800 LCD. However, it's only on Android 4.2.2, though, and an update isn't particularly likely. It might not stand up to some of the competition at full price, but it's a good deal right now.

Just enter the code VLLDC86VT4RR3$ at checkout to get the $50 discount. You will still have to pay tax in most areas, but the slowest shipping option is free.

this is insane offer....but looks like dell is going to ditch android again due to poor sales......they need to focus on marketing first

4.2.2!! Come on! All that lazy OEMs like HP, who launch new products with that old Android version, why?! Sometimes I wonder why Google bothers at all giving them months before access to the next version, if a lot of them simply won't care about their own -and new- products... (And yeah, for some curious reason, although I've read before about the Venue 8 but I didn't realize that it comes with Android 4.2.2.)

Dell pushed an OTA update to 4.3 about a month or so ago

Got the Venue 8, 32GB for $150 during pre-xMas period. Good tablet, powerful, plenty of storage. Got OTA update to 4.3 in Jan 2014. I suppose you would get 4.3 as soon as you power on the device. The screen is more than acceptable. All apps I have work perfectly on this tablet. I was planning to get the Nexus 2013, but when I saw the Venue 8 at roughly half price, I gave a try and have no regret. This tablet at discount price is really a good bargain. I am waiting for a reliable way to root it.

I have the Dell Venue 8 with 32 go and I love it. Dell updated the software to Android 4.3 about a month or two ago. Still no kit kat but not even note 2 has kit kat yet so why complain.

As others have stated, info's wrong here, Dell pushed 4.3 to the Venue 7 and 8. I checked the screen, apparently the 7's viewing angles suck compared to the 8".

I was just about to purchase one, but the deal is already over. :( Shame. $130 for an 8 inch quality tablet would have been awesome.

We tested a couple of these tablets at work and the glass they used is horrible. I don't know if we got one from a bad batch or if the quality was just subpar. Everyone who tested it asked if we put something on the screen for protection or something. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with it.

    Be warned.

Android police need to be ticketed for wrong info. They say "an update isn't particularly likely."
    I guess another unreliable site.
