T-Mobile has begun its soak test of the Moto X running Android 4.4.2. An update has rolled out to a limited number of users under version number 161.44.25.en.us. A look at the About phone screen below confirms that this is indeed the latest edition of KitKat.

Soak1 Soak2

Android 4.4.2 has already hit Moto X handsets in Canada, and this confirms that it is on its way to T-Mobile customers once all the kinks have been worked out. Soak tests, after all, are essentially beta tests for new firmware. Only a limited number of users get their hands on the software first, but if all goes well, it shouldn't take long for it to eventually roll out to the general public. Hopefully the wait isn't too unbearable. For the most part, Android 4.4.2 isn't all that large of a leap from 4.4.

Thanks, anon.

I am using T-Mobile, but I have the AT&T model. I wonder when 4.4.2 will hit me. I just wish it had the Nexus dialer.

Anybody know how long after the soak test until it rolls out to everybody else?

It depends on whether the soak test is successful. Considering things went well in Canada, things look promising but it's still no guarantee. If the soak is successful, more than likely it will begin rolling out in the next couple of weeks.

I've seen Motorola soaks go to production in like a day before. But if they find issues, nobody knows.

Thanks for the reply. I was just curious because I have the T-Mobile/unlocked version.

Anyone have issues on 4.4 with a car kit? Sometimes after a call music won't play. It says it is playing but nothing can be heard. Hoping they fix that.

anyone have the update or pull it?

Public release should be rolling out now. Anyone got it yet?

I installed a custom recovery and rooted the device, I'm gonna loose root access if I update the phone?
