There are oh so many options for a nice pair of headphones, but how many of them can survive being trampled by an adult hippopotamus? Only one that that I'm aware of. The Philips O'Neill CRASH headphones are on sale through Amazon and they claim to be able to survive almost anything and continue rocking out.

These cans have 40mm neodymium drivers and a durable TR90 frame that can be twisted and torqued 100,000 times without failing. The most impressive stat listed by Philips is probably that the CRASH headphones can handle 1,500kg of static force – that's about what a fully grown hippo weighs. Just think about how big a hippo is. Not that you're ever likely to encounter a hippo while wearing headphones (and if you do, you'll have bigger problems), but you can possibly run over these things with a car and not be out the money.

The Philips O'Neill CRASH Headphones also have an in-line remote/mic and an adjustable headband that can be locked into "chill mode" to hang more comfortably on your neck when not in use. $150 is a hefty sum for headphones, but 50% off is a darn good deal.

Update: This is the Amazon Gold Box deal of the day, so it's only good today.

We fought it out, and he changed his 1-star review to 5 stars.

      Otherwise, it's pretty lulz.

Grats for talking someone into giving it another fake 5 star rating..

I didn't think about it being fake in the beginning but rather an unfair 1 star. He should just delete his review altogether.

The microphone and the Volumen control work with a Nexus 5?

    • Jdban

The microphone should, the volume control probably will not

The one thing that always breaks in my headphones is the cord (which is why I went for Bluetooth ones this time)...How's that handled here? Is it like Beats where you can just plug in a new one (probably the only feature of their's I'm jealous of)?

Most high quality headphones have that feature, even some earbuds.

        Yes! Noontech Zoro!

I'm struggling to believe how those headphones could support the weight of my car. With 5 passengers. And a large dog.

I need more proof videos like we got for Toughbook

    And they sound.....how?

  • Matthew Fry

So the hippo can sit on it and it's ok but if it stomps on it, they're done for? No deal.

  • Ali

    But will it blend?

  • Cory_S

Was about to buy it but paused to read reviews...then it went up 60 bucks smh
