If Verizon's HTC One is your daily carry, good things are afoot: according to HTC Product Management Director @Moversi, the company has approved the 4.3 OTA and it should begin rolling out next week. This news comes roughly six weeks after HTC America President Jason Mackenzie stated that they company would need "more time to spin new [software] and re-test the 4.3 update," which was said to take approximately a month. Better late than never, I suppose.

This update should bring Sense 5.0 along with a slew of improvements to HTC's custom skin, as well as some other new features and general bug fixes. Once Verizon updates its support docs we should have a better idea of what to expect, so we'll be sure to let you know when that happens.

Meanwhile, developer edition HTC One already got KitKat update, soon to be followed by International version.

We will have 4.4 by end of January

Assuming Verizon doesn't pull... well... a Verizon and release it 2 months later than everyone else. Or who knows, they could be the first to release it. You just never know.

        Haha, you think so?
        Haha Verizon...
        Haha. :/

This update WILL NOT bring Sense 5.5 to the VZW HTC One. That won't come until the Kit Kat update.

Thanks, I'll ping Cameron. Nobody can keep track of what Sense version is shipping with which release - HTC has multiple devices with 4.3 and Sense 5.5. This is just dumb (for example, international HTC One has Sense 5.5: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/10/24/international-htc-one-now-receiving-android-4-3-via-ota-update-to-software-version-3-62-401-1/).

Ya, they're all over the place. Verizon hasn't helped them out either. @moversi is a good HTC guy to follow on Twitter for updates. That's the only way I found out.

Which is why the HTC Thunderbolt was my first and last Android phone. Left a bad taste in my mouth as far was timely updates were concerned. Went iPhone and never looked back.

Then WHY THE FUCK are you checking out Android Police, given that you HATE Android so much?

          • Michael Pahl

HTC Thunderbolt was a horrible device, ill give you that. and i dont blame you...
but, Android has evolved hugely since then. blame HTC not Android.

I left my iPhone for the HTC One because I didn't want to be told how my phone should look and act. There's so much more you can do with an Android device now. I'm running Android 4.4 and Sense 5.5, for instance (so much for timely updates). I'll never buy another iPhone again.

"We have received Technical Approval from Verizon on the 4.3 MR!"

Typical Verizon. Day late, dollar short. We have THE network, so suffer!

  • Ty Crane

Oh it's only two months after AT&T released the update

    • adamtx214

Htc said they wanted to be fair with comapanies who got 4.1 out the box verizon was after since they got 4.2 which is why we had to wait longer idk if your being sarcastic or not im just saying for everyone else blaming verizon this time when its actually not their fault

Lets see if they managed to squash rumrunner.

I'm downloading the update right now
