Would you look at that. Just one day after the Google Play Edition of LG's G Pad 8.3 went on sale, the CyanogenMod team gets an Android 4.4 build out for the standard retail version. A new CyanogenMod 11 nightly is available for the "LG V500."

g pad 83

But if you're planning on flashing this to your shiny new Google Play Edition tablet, you should hold off. CyanogenMod team member Ricardo Cerqueira says that the retail V500 build won't work on the G Pad 8.3 GPE, model number V510. The team will need to modify the installation procedure in order to get everything squared away, though I doubt it will take them long.

CM 11, based on the AOSP Android 4.4 code, is only a couple of weeks old itself. It hasn't made it to the full list of devices officially supported by the custom ROM, though all the Nexus devices currently being updated in AOSP have been given more stable M builds. Buyers of the new Google Play Edition of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra will be happy to know that CyanogenMod already supports the retail version of that phone, though it's still on CyanogenMod 10.2 (Android 4.3). The GPE Z Ultra will probably need the same modifications.

You can download the one G Pad 8.3 build on CyanogenMod's download page, though of course you'll need a custom recovery like ClockworkMod or TWRP to flash it. Remember that if you want access to the Google Play Store and other Google services, you'll also need to flash the separate Gapps package.

Why aren't there any builds for the Note 3 yet?

    • Ivan Myring

The guys who are building it apparently have a lot on, outside of building it (school etc.) and they are still fixing issues, but it is fairly close to a nightly.

Loving this so far. For those curious, here are the current known issues:

-On first boot, auto rotation seems to not work. A reboot fixes it.

    SD Card
-External SD card is seen as a module available on the v500 under Settings>Storage, but ejected or not, it reads as 0 bytes.
-The ROM does register though when you eject a card without dismounting.
-ES File explorer is able to navigate to the card using root access.

-Both speakers are playing audio, but even maxxed out, it does not play as loudly as when on the Stock ROM which comes with the device.

-AOSP Browser crashes when modifying settings

-Some people have reported not being able to use 5GHz wifi (but I'm not seeing that)

    IR Blaster
-Currently does not work when using Smart IR Remote by Color Tiger https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...om.remotefairy
-Cannot restore the LG remote app using TitaniumBackup
-I'm open to any app recommendations which are confirmed working with this ROM

Did they fix these bugs so far?

It should be known that we currently don't have a method to boot straight into recovery from power off unless you are on the latest TWRP.

The CWM at xda works fine but if you get caught in a bootloop somehow, you will likely have to restore completely to stock and re-root/unlock your device.

is there a solution for the boot loop =( ?

      • EH101

Depends, which recovery do you have?

        • WillD

Just tried flashing but it's stuck in boot loop. I'm using CWM but it won't boot into recovery. Very new to this so would appreciate any help that anyone could give.

            PhilZ cwm or regular cwm?

Also in CM news the newest nightly for 2013 N7 has bumped from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2. :) Doesn't seem to be all devices yet. I had check my GNex. Probably be on most CM11 builds shortly.

Gotta love CyanogenMod. I couldn't imagine keeping all those builds mergests and tests straight.
